This is how to fix a blocked shower drain with a smart tile floor waste. This is a very common problem with a simple fix. The smart tile floor waste system is great, however some of them have an issue with the grate / strainer holes being so small that they constantly cause a blockage. Hair and shampoo products block the grate causing the water to not flow through or become very slow to drain. This simple fix will unclog and clear the blockage and help prevent it from re occurring so frequently.

Thank you for posting this! I apparently didn't even have a grate under the one where I'm temp staying, but at least now I just know it drains slow in general and isn't a clog I caused. 😭

I’d like to know how to clean the silver trim/edging of these drains. Mine has gone rough oxidised/black. Hard to describe.

The insert is a section of tile. Just glued in.

A piece of the floor tile is cut and inserted into the cover 👍👍
