So you’re telling me I can use the typical Bass Football Jigs to catch Salmon and Trout? 🤔

For someone just starting out with this technique what would be a good starting sizes and colors?

All the colors will work at times.... just get a variety of purple, blue, and pinks... 3/4oz will treat you well. Good luck and tight lines.

I'm assuming that goes for everywhere or would it be different where I'm at by ice harbor and mcnary dams?

River wont necessarily dictate color, all though I'm sure some rivers may have a color that works "better", but the water conditions as well as sky (sunny or cloudy) will be more of a factor. These guys have some good content on the subject of color choice for conditions.... So in an attempt to answer your question, yes that rule of thumb (have a variety of colors) goes for anywhere and for salmon or steelhead. But for coho I would say purple, pink, and blue is a good starting point. Hope that long winded answer helped lol

I'm a weirdo, I have been successfully twitching jigs for years and always use mono. Is braid a game changer?

It'll definitely help on bigger rivers because it doesn't stretch like mono. Even at distances you can feel a small tap on the line

@@isayoldchap1 old reply, but that makes sense. I fish mostly rivers I can cast across, and even with mono at those distances I feel every little bump, rock, tail slap, etc. There's spots in the river I fish that are so full of braid you break off with mono when you drift through it, it's like cable just cuts through mono. Part of why I dislike braid.

@@blakerust200 That is actually quite depressing. It's almost worse than all the on-the-bank littering because it endangers the aquatic environment and spoils the sport for other anglers. Nothing is more annoying than line left on the bank or up in trees, etc. I have seen so many dead birds and small animals caught up in line over the years

Okay, I just went to the website to buy some 1/2 and 3/4 oz twitching jigs. Put together a package like you show in this video, then message me and I'll buy it. We can't get anything over 3/8oz here. I'm in Canada on Vancouver Island....just across the border. 😉

I need some 1oz jigs for the water I fish. Deep fast and wide.
