What a terrific instructional video Kerrod! Most other instruction, for the same basic principle, are so much less informative and helpful. They're usually no where near as in depth and visual as yours + you speak in complete sentences with a one to one quality of personalization that empowers the viewer. For sure I saw---in the "dont do it this way" part, that I often did try to turn my hips in the incorrect way. Sweet!
Kerrod, incredible instructional golf video on proper fundamentals for making a good "hip turn" and the great results that come from it! I have always been a "hands and arms" golfer, but as I have gotten into my Senior years I am having more lower back anomalies so I know I am causing injury. I will work hard in 2022 to make a better hip turn a stay connected.
TIL I’ve never actually turned my hips. Just been changing knee flex. Fascinating.
Well said and demonstrated kerrod. No one has said anything about the knee flex like you did, and it’s absolutely spot on..

Hey Wen, Thanks!
Great lesson! You do a great job explaining the “do’s and don’ts” without too much extra that can get confusing.
This is one of the most helpful explanation of backswing hip-turn that I've ever seen. Thank you.

Wow, thanks!
just returned from the range - moving the tail bone to the left heel was a major improvement. I think this saved my game.
Great instruction and very well delivered. Kerrod, can you talk about how the tail bone should feel throughout the swing please?
Great explanation. Thanks a bunch

That tip about the tailbone at the end - amazing. I don't think I have ever heard or seen this before. I tried it in my simulator and instantly felt way more balanced with more crisp strikes. Brilliant. Thank you for the great instruction.

Very good, i think you cover all principle of backswing, the one i liked most is the tail bone concept. I tried it and it worked. It cured the sway and reverse pivot👍👍

Hi Kerrod, absolutely great content with very clear explanation. My question whether the right hip goes more back at the same level or a little inclined, meaning your belt buckle is tilted once you finisb your backswing Thank you
Thanks kerrod this weekend I will play little tornament at Gallaghers Canyon. See how I improve with all the tips I learned from you. Thanks. A friend is back from Italy he is learning golf I will give him your site to improve his golf. See you and have a good day. Oscar from Canada.

Kerrod, what an excellent demonstration and explanation. Could you continue this one to use the same alignment stick to demonstrate the clearing of the hips. This video shows a relatively level hip turn in the backswing. Do the hips also turn relatively level both in the downswing and in the through swing? What should that feel like? Thank you.
Very good!

This video improved my ball striking by leaps and bounds! It turns out I was reverse pivoting this whole time and not turning my hips at all!

The dreaded reverse pivot! I'm glad you figured it out now, rather than later. It really is one of the biggest swing killers out there.
Always used back pocket as far back, but love the movement over the left heel 👍

Great video. I've found that fixing my reverse pivot has helped my hip rotation and backswing depth a lot, is this a common result of a correct pivot?
I enjoyed your keys on backswing hip rotation. Any further advice for senior golfers like myself. Age 67, 1m 93cm tall but pretty slow swing speed!!!
Your are great❤

Will turning the left shoulder and arm in the backswing be enough to turn the hips or should we be making a conscious effort to turn the hips in the takeaway and if so when should we start to turn the hips tks
@kerrodgraygolf

I just released a video on this very topic, it's my most recent upload.
Hi Kerrod, everthing is so clear what you said in your video. What I still do not know is when the trailing hip starts to turn. I think whenever I turn my left shoulder around, the trailing right hip turns as well. So, without the left shoulder turning around, I would maybe have some form of sway. Any comments would be appreciated.
For a long time I did not understand the pelvic -hip turn and would let my pelvis swing laterally instead of turning my pelvis to swing my chest and arms around my spine. Not too many instructors teach that.
@kerrodgraygolf

And how have you found it has affected your swing?
I previouslyl thought it was a mistake to turn hips too early in backswing in other words turning everything together.do you agree with one piece takeaway and drill where you place club shaft in belly button,gripping down shaft and turn to right.S/J
Great video, I actually think I over turn my hips and the lead knee flexes more, I’m told many things either too much hip turn is bad and too little hip turn is bad, which is it?

About 45 degrees of hip turn in the backswing is perfect for most people!
Doing this makes me do an inside takeaway.

@@kerrodgraygolf Do the hips turn at the very start? Or does it turn after the initial takeaway?
Left heel lift helps. Think Ol skool players Bobby Jones, Jack N., Sam Snead.
I don't get enough hip turn in the backswing, but when I practice turning the hips in the backswing it feels like I can keep the club in front of my chest better. Would that be true?
@kerrodgraygolf

You may feel like you are keeping the club in front better this way, but it is worth recording your swing and checking if you actually are.

@@kerrodgraygolf yes I record my swing everyday. I practice in my garage. I post them on KZread just so I can watch it in slow motion. I have a very steep downswing
Once I started turning my rear hip Ihave reduced topped shots to zero. But I know have a fat shot in my repertoire. That is the trade off
Well I have trying that but my ball goes two the left Some time it goes straight.
Can you please help me to stop shanking.
Greg Norman stressed in his instructional videos: Right pocket back as far from the ball as you can get it
You’re showing the hips move laterally so the stick is simply turning in a circle. That’s weak power. Hips go back and slightly up in backswing - stick should not be parallel. It should turn up in backswing and vice versa on downswing .
Dude said a bunch of nothing

Couldn’t disagree more. Having a sense of where my tailbone moved was an eye opening moment for me. You can fake that

Different strokes 😅
Why did you spend 10 minutes with rambling garbage instead of making a 30 second video telling how us to make a proper hip turn: 45 degree angle and use a aid to check it. KZread is great but people need to learn how to organize their thoughts in a clear, concise and prompt manner

To be honest, I quite like the extra added information and expiration around the issues and causes, before getting into the solutions. Not everyone wants the answer in two seconds. Certainly looks like there are many other satisfied viewers above too.
