How To Turn Right At An Intersection - Part 2

How to turn right at an intersection - Part 2. In this video I discuss more problems students have while turning right at an intersection, like advancing too straight when looking to the left, why you should always do your verifications (mirrors and blind spots) even if there aren’t any motor vehicles between you and the sidewalk, priorities when turning right, and turning on streets that allow turning from multiple lanes.

Insane as it is, it’s a very new concept in the US. I’m in NY not NYC but it is taught at NYC driving schools but not out in the suburbs… even though our roads aren’t design for bikes and most bikes use the sidewalk and do not have enough room, however though near my college with a bike lane and people who just go on the side it is important for sure. Give it 5 years from now I bet you ever state DMV will update and add blind spot check on rights. Honda use to have a blind spot camera for this reason, sadly they stopped it actually extremely useful. It’s rare in the US but at the same time it is state by state California has loads of bike lanes so they have to do blind spot check each bike lane turn. US dmv laws are always changing… I just learn about blind spot right recently and glad I did even though in the US we aren’t like Canadas cities it doesn’t hurt since bike lanes are becoming more common each day!

Depends on the situation, but mostly, advance very slowly, so even if you don't see the vehicles coming in the perpendicular axis, they will see you.
