I want to thank you very much for this. I was stuck with a "known error issue" (for an earlier version but it occurred on my later version) after I updated Chromebook. That issue was marked "fixed" a year ago and there was no help to be found that did anything. The error involved Chrome OS not able to realize it was connected to WiFi and would not allow me to log into CB but only use it in Guest mode ... I needed a powerwash, but in Guest mode Google did not want that to be possible. After plowing through all sorts of unhelpful leads turned up by G search, I hit on this video. As it said that installing Dev Mode would delete all local data, I figured that would be the same as a powerwash, so I followed your instructions. After it counted down and OS Verification was off, I hit Enter to turn it back on and it went out of Dev Mode and to Welcome screen. This fixed the error, this time I logged in to find a nice and clean refreshed OS. Yes I lost a few items I had in Files but there was no way I was going to be able in Guest mode to back them up and no other way to fix the error and use the machine without the powerwash. Again, can't thank you enough, you saved my hide.

Now I can play old versions to revisit the past ;) thanks man!

There's a guy on here that I respect and I like his input on technology hes a very nice guy and I hold nothing against him I hope everything the best for him and I hope he gets everything you want in life that's sad it's kind of hard to grasp how to go into developer mode when the guy literally has a 8 to 9 minute long video and it sounds more like an audio book than it does instructions

Thanks so much it help. Got my third chromebook this year and I forgot how to do it cuz it was always on on my old laptop. Just saying the menu has change a little bit since u had made this video they now send us to recovery mode but by the settings below we can access it very easily 😊

Tip: When turning on dev mode, it will delete all of your saved files and apps. If you have anything important saved to files, I would recommend keeping it on a google slides(link or image). For the apps, if you have an account on them, then you can just re download them after turning on dev mode, then sign in to the account. But you will lose your data on other apps, unless you have that saved or smthn. I have used this exact tutorial before a few months back, but something happened on my end and I have to turn it on again. Also, you might want to write down the directions.

Hold them down for a second thats what happened to mine and all I did was hold them down for about three seconds and let go

I have been watching videos all day that is the only one working thanks + in my chrome book the off bottom is not there it's on the side just in case someone have the same problem ✨

I don't know if there's a way. When it is put into developer mode, it is completely rebooted, so everything is reset and erased. It would be ideal to back up your files onto a flash drive to save em'.

Backup your files first so once you're in you can log in to your Google a account everything should be there
