My check engine light came on a couple of days ago. '06 Corolla. The light remained solid. It was running fine, so I drove it back & forth to work for those couple of days. Had it checked with the meter at Auto Zone today. He told me my light is indicating it's time for a service. Whew!!

_NOTICE:_ *if you don't have enough money and you are trying to turn off the check engine light of your car to get it inspected, you can do it this way, but.... in a long time, the check engine light will come back, cus the problem is still right there. Conclusion: reset the check engine light and get it inspected at the same hour, then fix the real problem with a new piece, when you get the money*

Well, it worked. Hopefully, it will stay off. I had a P0456 code. Simple code. But if it keeps it off after I pulled the hoses and checked my gas cap, you're a life saver!

Some vehicles will go into security lock out and lock the radio that needs a code from dealership. As well as a few other issues depending on vehicle

Thanks dude. My light came on for fuel pressure censor/gas cap and I wasn't able to use my remote start on cold mornings due to this light being on (light deactivates remote starting). Plan on getting it fixed but the appointment isn't for a couple of weeks.

I swapped out my egr valve for a new one and my check engine light still won't clear after trying the battery trick. Anything else I can try?

Worked like you said.

If that fixes it, check your other battery connections. My diesel ram will have a corroded connector somewhere that caused an interuption in the electrical system and turn on the CEL.

Will the engine light go away after driving? Sure mine on my Ram was from a dead battery I had.

I just bought a 2002 dodge neon check engine light came on after about 15 miles of driving. I'm pretty sure the guy did this to hide the check engine light so he could sell it

Autozone will check the reason for your check engine light for free. They can tell you what caused it and what part might be necessary. You can do the repair yourself or take it to a shop. Then use this method to clear your light and it will stay off.

well that doesn't work for a long because you drive it and then it starts coming back on it doesn't matter if it's easier yard as a matter of his tune up or whatever is still a problem I've done that I replace the EGR valve Dodge says the EGR valve brand new so

I have a 2008 Dodge ram 1500. I’ve noticed if I’m on the freeway for a period of time my check engine light will sometimes come on even though the truck is running perfectly fine. I did the whole turn the key three times to see what code comes up, but it just says “done” and no codes pop up. So does this mean that the check engine lights coming on for no reason? Thanks.

It is possible that the evap system depresses, then repressurized, while driving on the highway,, its not a problem,, the system just breathes (dumps) causing the temporary(false) reading of low fuel pressure,, which kicks on the relay which causes the ecm to light the dash.. nope , I didn't figure this out myself,, the tech at the 1-800-Chrysler info hotline explained it to me..I have an older Ram , '03 ,with 4.7 Magnum V8. It kicks codes like soccer practice,, especially since I bought and installed a factory refurbished ECM/PCM. Also, the truck has a proving system,, meaning you can swap parts/make repairs (especially electronic parts and sensors) , and the check engine light still wont go off until you drive it a few hundred miles or so , provide to the pcm that you actually made a repair and not just reset the light. 🤷🏿‍♂️😃🤷🏾‍♂️😁🤷🏾‍♂️😊

That's because you didn't fix the problem that caused the engine light to come on in the 1st place. Gotta fix it first, then turn off engine light.

y'know, if ya did the three-key-turns after this, you'd get a code telling you the battery has been disconnected.

But it dont last long it always comes back

In 4 or 5 days come back again.that happen whith .y truck.

The best thing to do is have a mechanic determine why check engine light is on at the time you take it in for inspection. You want the car fixed. So stop turning off the engine light in order to hide it. You may have a breakdown on the road

this wont work.light will come back on in a day or so. so unless you want to keep disconnect the battery every few days this is a waste of time

Sure it turns it off but doesn't fix the problem maybe you should say after you find out the codes and fixed the problem do this not just do this and hope everything is okay because the light will come back on bro
