    Mike, brilliant video. If this was your first attempt I would say it is a great success. I think the camera work was first rate. I liked the process for turning the angel and how you used the cutoff for the halo. I hope to see more vids.... Sam

    Hello Mike, I wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your great videos! I am new to woodturning and absolutely love it. I have watched most of your videos, but wanted to comment on one specific video. First a little backstory... My 88 year old grandmother, suffering from dementia, had a stroke on Aug 2. One night after my family left the hospital for the evening, I happen to come across your video on turning a small angel. I watched the video a few times and decided I needed to make one. Now, my grandfather, who passed away a few years earlier, had always had his wood "projects" so we always joked about being a "wood butcher". So I have followed along his path using woodworking as my "hobby". I could not sleep that night so out to the shop I went. I made an angel in the morning. That evening my 9year old daughter and I gave her that angel and said grandpa is watching out for you. Well needless to say not a dry eye was found. My grandma passed away on Aug 4 with that angel in her hand. That little angel sits next to the companion urn I turned for both of my grandparents. That little angel that took 15 minutes to turn has so much meaning for my family. Mike, you will never know how important that single video means to me. So I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication and unselfish sharing of your skills. Bob Naprava Jr Penn Yan, NY

    I wish I was at a computer to more easily type a lengthy comment of appreciation for a well done video. I appreciate the explanation of how you were using the tool to accomplish the beading of the head more than even watching the shaping. As most videos focus on the shaping and rare is a reference to which tool is in use but none so far as ive seen describe the how the tool is being used. Well done.If possible will you post your supplier for the sanding cloth as I know this is the ideal sanding material and as of now my only resource has been my husbands employer and as generously as they have given to us the remnants id love to be able to purchase a supply of our own.

  • @MikePeaceWoodturning

    @MikePeaceWoodturning

    +Frank Ingram I don't think I have made one larger than perhaps 4". I have seen others make larger but don't feel they scale up that well. I think if I needed a larger angel, I would use a different design with wings turned and added along a style like Nick Cook published in an article. Sharing my testimony doesn't come easy but it is easy to share an image. Thanks for the encouragement.

    A very good first video Mike and a worthy project! Lately I have been watching 1-2+ of your videos a day for the last 7-10 days. I haven’t turned Bradford Pear before. Any idea of an online source for it? Back when I lived in the Peach State ( I believe I was further south of you) I wasn’t turning then so I’ve never had the pleasure of turning it. Have ever turned any Peach 🍑 ? And how long have you been turning? I know this one was published in January 2014... And you did a GREAT job with the camera work and editing for a first or second video it turned out quite well! I have really been enjoying your videos. Please keep them coming and I’ll keep watching! • @MikePeaceWoodturning

    Yes you could. In my opinion it greatly reduces the beauty. Separate halos are placed at an angle and it also gives you the opportunity to use a contrasting wood. Little details like the angle of the halo make a huge difference. Try one of each and ask your spouse or girlfriend which she likes and why. Case closed.
