How to Turn a Camper into a Tiny House Part 3 - Structural Design

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Just posting my general structural design for the house. I like the idea of having the bathroom at one end, a galley kitchen and a bed at the end. Lots of large windows that i'll be building since I'd like it to feel open and spacious. Also, I figure it will give a close feeling to nature when camping.
Once I finish the garage project I'll be building the structure to the tiny house and finally get it wrapped up.
If people would like, I can do designs and ideas for a small fee. Let me know if you'd like to commission a set of building plans! Email me at: maximumindustries@gmail.com, thanks!

I do all my customer modeling in sweethome3d....super simple. My chief architect software is maybe too complicated for my rapid design needs. I might check out solid works. SH3D is working fine but often has limitations.

Solidworks 2014. Highly recommend getting Solidworks 2015 if you're going to get one, it has a bunch of new tools I wish I had. Other good programs are revvit and AutoCAD. Thanks! Stay tuned!

Sold the chassis, bought a real home. The legal problems with a Tiny house in Michigan were not something I was interesting in surmounting.

im guessing you ran into a lot of problems with weight, prob bend frame or axles, its gonna be disaster when you take this thing on highway, your idea is good in theory, but in the real world, it needs to be a good idea in practice , i saw 2x6s in browser window, all walls need to be 2x3's glued (Loctite 3X polyurethane construction adhesive) with 1/2 inch PT plywood, itll be a solid sheer wall, and screwed with washers, add a axle to back making it more toungue heavy to make truck take more weight

Nope, no problem because I sold it. :D Long story short, this was an adaption from an existing frame and axle set that was good for 10,000 pounds. The design I had up didn't even make a dent in the weight. Total build out with floors being 2x8, walls being 2x3 (good guess), roof/ceiling being 2x4, with all sheathing, siding, roof shingles I was at ~4,500 pounds dry weight including the steel trailer. Honestly, people think structures weigh a lot, they don't. What really makes weight a concern is when people fill it with their shit.
