Thanks for the comment! Yes, it's amazing the variety of shapes to make and woods to use. I think the Zebra Wood and Honduran Rosewood are my favorites right now. They both did an excellent job of taking the threads when I tapped them.

Thanks for video. I bought these kits and I am about to turn my first stopper. The wood I am going to use is not very hard. Do you think I should put some thin ca glue on the sides of the drilled hole before I tap it?

That would probably be a good idea if you're not using a hardwood. I would "dry" fit everything first before adding the glue. The threading works best with hardwoods for holding strength.

Where did you get your kit?

I got it from Woodcraft. I'd recommend getting the stainless steel kind. And make sure you get the correct mandrel that goes with the kit.

I wish I wasn't so scared to use those machines. I'd probably lose some fingers!

They can be a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, they are very fun to operate.

I got a jigsaw for my birthday last year.......... I still haven't used it. I tried for like 5 seconds. I'm too scared of the loud sounds, but I love to make things....... for now i stick to glue as my main tool :D

I used a jigsaw for many years before moving on to other power tools. Definitely ease yourself into it, but there is other woodworking like carving that doesn't involve power tools. You could, for example, carve the bottle stopper blank and not use any power tools. It will take more time and you still have to be careful with gouges. If the loud sounds of tools are bothering you, you might also try ear muffs to muffle the sound. But do what you are comfortable doing. Good luck!
