Basically, these filters are a complete bastard to tune and you're going to be doing it all day and you still won't be happy with the results! :D

Send your mobile filters to me. I use a similar VNA as Sinclair uses and charge 100.00 to bench tune your filters to precision spec. I also tune full cavity duplexers. Www.vhfrepeaters.com

Cavity filters are better and way way easier to tune

Thank You. When I see those alignment nuts on there like that, I grab the salesman by his nuts and explain the facts of life to him. He sends it back. And we buy the correctly designed cavities.

2 port, 3 channel VNA. Nice to see 2 reflected channels on top and your insertion loss/gain on the 3rd channel at on the bottom. Mine is only 2 ports, 2 channels at a time.

Can you elaborate more on what we should be trying to see when looking at the smith chart?

I was going to say the same thing - what advantages is there, and how on earth do you interpret what you see on the screen? I didn't understand the adjustment process using the smith charts at all!

Mike, The test equipment is a sweep generator and spectrum analyzer?

The equipment in the video is a network analyzer. This is usually preferred for filter tuning as even the most basic network analyzer will simultaneously display both the transmission through and reflection from the filter.
