My 10in always sounds weird. I get a great tone from my 8,12 and 14 but for some reason ive always had trouble with the 10. The pitch is good but there is this underlying buzz that i can't get rid of. Ive checked the drum it's fine and tweaked the reso but to no avail. Can't hear it when its micd up but my ocd hates it. Good vid!

It's tuned to a note sympathetic to your snare, maybe try to adjust your snare a little down, and your tom a little up, or the other way around

Mine still buzzes a little, but not near as much as before, I have a piece of moon gel on it to help some. You can't tell with all the room noise

I play an pearl master's and session select in a 8x7 10x8 10x9 as my main rack Tom's my floor Tom's with legs are Deep 13x13 and two 14x14 and 13x8 Deep snare drum and my Bass Drum is a 24x16 vergin and last two Drums are 20" Bass Drum and a 20" gong on a 3 sided Dr 500 icon straight rack

Hi Phillip, sounds flat and wierd in the video but when you set it down it sounds just like mine I am tuning with you. I guess just the video mic and my speaker listening. Thank you for taking the time to upload this.

I was told in the 60s to detune and then retune a drum a day. Doesn't take that long to get really comfortable with it.

I would suggest ordering Remo Emperors (or what you want), whether from the retailer themselves or Amazon et al, rather than settling for what's at the store if they're out of stock-unless you have to make a session that evening!

And playing with smaller Tom's rudement wize you can do anything even stunts with the fence of fingers tripples doubles with one hand at times the rebound on the smaller Tom's on any acustic kit is out of this world

My tom sounds good but when I mount it in my drumset it sounds horrible... PS sry for my bad english

Don’t put the Tom all the way inside

The reason for smaller Tom's is feeling in the hands I learned this trick by playing the Roland TD k 50 my acustic kit feels just like this

My 10x9 sounds like a 12x10

I'm using Remo white swades 2 ply on the top of Tom's and floors and a Remo pinstripe clear 2 ply on the bottoms of all Tom's and floors and for my gong I also use a white Evans emad 3 on both kicks and in front white Pearl masters head's no pillows or blankets I like all of my Drums open I do have kick port's in both Bass Drums pearl the best reason why we play Drums 🥁💪😉

Does the Kick Port change the sound of the kick drum when you stick the mic inside the kick pointed at the batter head?

Why didn't you tune the rezo? That doe not sound like a 10" tom.at all. Sorry but this video is not helpful.at all

That tom sounds awful...i wasted ten minutes to watch how to tune toms wrong
