You can set the roote note in Edison : sample properties, middle note. If the root note of the sample is E and you did that in Edison when you drag a sample the root not will be set automatically in the sampler.

if i choose change pitch method by increasing or decreasing cents should i change it too in root note window?

Naive is the Truth!!!
So if i make my own melody (not a sample) do i put the 808s on the bottom notes of that melody? Or can i put them on any note of that melody?
what if i sampled a song and chopped it in slicex should i bounce it then do the midi thing
how can i save my tuned 808 so i dont have to tune it again? because after i tuned it and load the same 808 from library its back to default
I dig this channel 100%. However that being said i am new to production and Daw's and use Studio one 5, so i have a 50/50 chance usually of being able to use said information. Is there anyway you could leave a how to for other Daw's. For example on this video i lose you at the stripping the wave file and grabbing midi from it:( sample one did not give me that :(
@NavieD
2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I think it would get too confusing for me to jump to multiple DAWs. I try my best to give info that is applicable across DAWs though
How do you determine how many cents to lower it?
I've been using a spectrum analyzer to match the pitch of the 808 to the melody. I use the one in Wave Candy.

@@fastmoneyheroe It's in my template. I just have it in the right hand corner where there's no buttons. Then I right click and there's an option to make it bigger if I need to. I just match the thickest, lowest frequency in the 808 spectrum with one of the ones in the melody. I'll look for Navie's video to post it here.

That's smart af. I usually use a vst or go by ear if I can.
I use the bass to highlight the tonic, so Gb on that 808 sounds a lot better with the chord. Flats > sharps.

I’m confused. So after you do that and play C on the keyboard, is it playing a C or a E?
Fkn genius
I'm curious why did you say that second example couldn't work..?
How did you copy from sampler to 808?
Navie D awsome tutorials dude, i have a question, when i change the mode to e generic (as you talked about in one of your other videos), i gotta pitch -4 to be in C right?
@NavieD
3 жыл бұрын
No, E generic doesn't change the pitch the pitch of your sound to E.
@G-N-D
3 жыл бұрын
@@NavieD oh...i see...thank you broski 😊
how come you tuned it to E5 if it was E2?
Do you still tune it the same if you pitch up the loop?
I’m kinda confuse I notice that the key of the 808 is E but you went and tune it to C but you did not go back and select C as it’s new root note .

So is that all you need to do. LOL. You make it sound so easy. Click here click there finished right
Me personally I just treat 808 like another instrument and play along with it. Never had an issue
So you always basically tune your 808 to C and then play the keys you need? even if the sample is, let say, in the key f, would you rather pitch it to c, and play a f, or pitch it to f and play a f also?
@NavieD
3 жыл бұрын
I would rather pitch to a C first. That way, its going to be mapped to a traditional keyboard layout, and I actually have a good sense of which notes on my MIDI keyboard play what

@NavieD

I hear that!
Does this apply to kick drums also?
@NavieD
4 жыл бұрын
I'd say not as much. You should keep your kicks relatively uniform and not go crazy playing multiple notes in a beat (comapred to an 808). As for tuning, jumping around a semitone here or there to see if it fits better is a good idea, but I wouldn't be as meticulous with repitching something like a kick drum, it won't matter as much as repitching an 808
none of these tutorials are working for me. i follow the steps and the 808s are still out of tune. any tips?

What about if you just put the loop in edison and detect pitch regions itl give you all the notes or am I wrong ?

From my understanding, it will give you the same problem as it did in the second example of the video (with the complex loop) where it'll give unreliable data. I think both functions (export to midi and detect pitch regions) are based off of the same function in FL Studio

Appreciate it! God bless you homie know that Jesus is alive and He loves you. He died for us and rose again to pay for our sin. Accept it or reject it but know you cant earn it, its a gift received by faith/belief. Hell is real and heaven also, but Jesus died so you could have eternal life and not have to pay the eternal death we righteously should have to because of our sin. The eternal God died to take our eternal death. Jesus is God homie He came down for you, its personal. Read His Word the Bible to know Him, the book of John (the history of the life of Jesus) is a great place to start. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD made flesh, coming down to this crazy world to be put up on a tree for me and you. Believe.
That was bs
why are you calling it an 808? its a pitched bass sample. an 808 is a drum machine, not some shitty sample downloaded off the internet
@NavieD

The way the term 808 is used nowadays is to refer to what I am using here. And you know this already, don't be glib
Every single fucking video I am trying to watch about 808's is always fucking fruity loops. I have no idea how to use fruity because I use Cubase. Fruity loops is to god damn complicated to use. I dont even know how to load a sample. It's to complicated and I'm going back to Cubase, its the better DAW. To tune anything in Cubase 808's etc...its a push of a button, it's very very simple to do. With this fruity loops crap you need a god damn tutorial and do a bunch of things.
