Super helpful. Was able to narrow it down to one of the switches in the gear selector. Pulled the switch apart and found a crack on the side that allowed the electrical contacts to not touch. My wife thought it was sexy I figured it out but I just followed your instructions. Thanks!

Hi, great video but I need some further help. Everything works on my kid's Dune Racer except when he is in it, it will stutter, like go and stop intermittently when the pedal is pressed. It doesn't do that if the back is lifted up and I'm just pressing the switch. Background: I had added another 12 V battery to make it 24. Used cheap wire from Amazon. The connections are secure but maybe the wire is no good? Or maybe it is just the switch?

  • @thedoubtfultechnician8067

24V is almost definitely too much for the motors, wiring, and switches. I know people do 18V conversions but that’s even pushing it. You could have undersized wiring, switch contacts corroding from arcing, or melted brushes. Or any combination of the three.

Hi! Thanks for the video. My car-crazy son managed to get a really good electric 4x4 for his birthday. He took his new role as toy-car owner very seriously, and I found him, not long after getting it, outside proudly giving the thing a really thorough wash down with the hose 😬. It hasn't worked since and we cannot afford to pay someone to take a look at it. Understandably he's gutted and spends a lot of time just sitting in the thing pretending to drive it. It starts up fine (including the very loud annoying radio) but no movement at all. Do you think this could be the pedal switch?

I haven't hooked anything up to check connections, but I'm thinking it's the main controller. Battery clicks every time pedal is engaged. Brand new, unused battery with same result. I would start troubleshooting by measuring the battery voltage as you step on the pedal with weight on it. It should drop a few volts under load. If it doesn’t drop any, that’s a wiring or switch issue. If it drops a lot, then your battery is likely toast.

Model? Sounds like the brake reduction module or a wire to it has failed. Basically just a resistor to load down the motors when not on the accelerator.

Someone told me you had to have a code reader for some power wheels to figure out what was wrong, battery is good but motor won’t turn. Suggestions?

Just wanted to let you know that your sticker on the lift should be censored. The one that says " operated by F***wits. Seeing as how this video is for kids toy vehicles. Besides that thank you very much for the video, it was very creative and helpful. God bless!
