Malfunctioning valves can occur in any vein. the recurrence increases when there is a history of varicose veins.

yes. it relieves pain. it is not a treatment for blood clots. it works in small-diameter veins and larger-diameter veins depending on their size. New veins have new valves, however, it is genetic, so valves can become faulty.

The blood from inside the vein is withdrawn. It does not remain in the blood stream.

Laser should be done first, which would burn the incompetent vein away leaving the good veins to take over. Ultrasound Foam Guided Sclerotherapy should always be carried out eight weeks after after Endovenous Laser Ablation Therapy. Sclerotherapy alone is inadequate for venous insufficiency (varicose veins)

@@serab2616 I had an Endovenous Duplex Vein Mapping Scan) Endovenous Laser Ablation Therapy (EVLT) together with Transluminal Occlusion of Perforators (TRLOP) (I had four incompetent perforator veins, some only have incompetent truncal veins) followed after a necessary eight week gap with Ultrasound Foam Guided Sclerotherapy. These were all done at a vein clinic in London in 2018 at a cost of about £6,000. I haven’t looked back since and was the best money I ever spent. There are more up to date procedures now replacing the EVLT since 2019.

Yes, but you would have to pay. I have been through it all, but eventually had to pay at a clinic in London because first of all the NHS wouldn’t offer this, then when they did they were unable to perform the procedures because I had four incompetent perforator veins, which needed a Vein Specialist (Phlebologist) The NHS only employ Vascular Surgeons who are not competent at working on smaller veins. The Professor who’s clinic I had my treatments from pioneered laser surgery and performed the first one in 1998. I had my treatments in 2018, travelling to from Newcastle to London on four occasions. Was the best £6,000 I ever spent and I haven’t looked back since.

@@vvtmedical4837 YES it absolutely is available in the UK. I was diagnosed a C6 in my left leg, had two incompetent truncal veins and four incompetent perforator veins. I underwent three fantastic treatments at the Whiteley Clinic in London in 2018 and after suffering the most horrendous venous leg ulcers for seven years and having them just managed by our UK NHS I haven’t looked back since. So yes it absolutely is available in the UK.

@@vvtmedical4837 but you give the impression that venous insufficiency cannot be treated in the UK when in fact it can. You just use a different branding, but they all more or less have similar results as long as these procedures are carried out correctly by a vein specialist (Phlebologist) working together with an Interventional Radiologist. Incidentally, most people here in the UK have no idea that their venous insufficiency can be treated successfully and suffer for years with the NHS having them believe they will never be cured by just managing their symptoms at leg ulcer clinics. It really is a travesty.
