Like father like son. A monster dozer on a small trailer. Haha! I hope my comment about the trailer being too small didn't upset you because I probably would've done the same thing. If it needs to be moved you move it with what you have available. I hauled a one ton dump truck with a diesel engine about 160 miles on a trailer rated to haul 6000 lbs. I didn't have enough tongue weight because the trailer wasn't long enough to load it correctly so I had to go 55 mph. Any faster and it would sway like crazy. Blew one tire on the way home and didn't it sway bad when that tire blew. Thanks for the video and God bless you all!

I had 4 boys then that girl!! we had a Minni farm but so many of the same stories just smaller scale, The turd pile as my boys called it was the best. I remember learning to drive the equipment. Jr /Sr rodeos and catching cows. Thank you for being out there for me to enjoy as I travel the US. I will admit that now with my old lady heart I yell to myself " Oh my that child is doing this or that!! " Keep it up and keep those kids free to learn and explore.

I have worked with cattle in a trailer like that myself. Didn't know about the rope trick. Dad did teach me to be careful about getting my arm inside or getting trapped inside. When letting the big bull out I would have done the back gate first, then opened the middle gate. Then I would have closed the middle gate and the back gate before releasing the little bull. Of course I wasn't there, and my hindsight is much better than just 20/20. I have had some of those spooky Nevada range cattle delivered to my place before. I don't have horses and dogs so I do everything slowly on foot whenI move the cows from paddock to paddock as needed (Managed Intensive Grazing). At first I open the gate to the new paddock and then wander around in the old paddock to let them 'escape' into the new paddock with lush green grass. By the second cycle they start to catch on, and after that whenever I go into their paddock and start calling them to "Come along girls, and bring your babies" they follow me through the gate to their next paddock. The biggest challenge is when the older calves go gallivanting around instead of staying with the herd. When they realize that Mama is on the other side of the fence they really get excited. I remember one old cow that stopped in the middle of the gate and bellowed about the grass in the new paddock not being good enough for her delicate pallette. You just can't please some cow critters. Because I never lie to them by leading them into a barren paddock they begin to trust me. Then at the end I lie to them when I lead them into the loading corral. But then it is too late for them to escape. I missed the cows last summer because the wife and I are on an 18 month tour of duty as a Senior Couple on a Military Relations Mission, serving my Marines at 29 Palms, CA. We are heading home to Idaho soon, so if you hear a couple of beep, beeps coming from the Hiko side about the 12th of April, it will be us passing through.

That is why a lot of kids get so sick these days, they don't get out and play in the dirt and manure to build up their immunity. I remember doing the same things as a kid on the farm. Nice tip on releasing the little bull. A good sharp knife would change the little bull's disposition. Another good one, God Bless.

My oldest daughter Amanda, took her fishing a lot when she was growing up. She wouldn't hear of anyone baiting her hooks for her. Took her to the coast, out of Reedsport, Oregon and gathered up a bunch of Kelp Worms to use as bait. The first one she grabbed up and she had it right up close to see that she hooked it right as usual. Now these Kelp worms look like centpede's but the heads will pop out and they have a big set of pinchers, when Amanda saw those pinchers, she freaked out and threw a fit, never to touch one again! I showed her how they won't hurt you, how to hold them, nope. Never to touch even a night crawler after that. She just turned 42 and she'll jump and run off if she see's even a spider, lol. See always is reminded of that Kelp Worm. Thought I raised her different!

When I was a kid we had “dirt clod” fights. The “dirt clods” were more pig crap than dirt and it wasn’t fun to get smacked in the head with one but we lived through it! I laughed when I saw your kids on the cow crap pile. We did the same thing….after we cleaned out the stalls with pitchfork and wheelbarrow. I’m not sure if skid loaders were very common at that time but we certainly never had one, that’s what kids are for!

You were talking about a truck with a dump or bail feeder, I am not sure but my son may have one for sale. He has sold his ranch n now lives in town. He has no use for it anymore. I haven’t talked to him about it. It fits on his truck n can load n unload up to 6 big square bales n round bales. It will also spread n unroll bales of hay. I know that he paid a lot of money for it n only has it a couple of years before he sold the ranch. He also has a 34 or 36 foot ultra light stock trailer. I am not sure if he plans on selling or keeping it either. If you think that you might b interested in either one, let me know n I will ask him about it. I think that he only used the trailer a handful of times n he bought it new.
