How to Train the Split Step ?!?! Drill for Liberos!

Спорт

One of eight drills I like to use to train the split step for serve reception.
If we can get a conscious read and a quicker, more dynamic 'push' towards the serve, I believe we will be incredibly successful in passing both float and jump serves.

Can the split step be used in places other than serve receive?

Yes you can use it for hitting defense as well It just makes you faster to move and bust towards the ball

Why is the 2nd and 3rd step going back? I’ve never done this as a libero and the examples shown don’t do this either. The split step should have a slight forward movement, not forward and back.

Prep step (forward) and then when you jump and the front/back foot just recalibrate in the middle - as we might have to move forward, back or to the sides. Hope this helps my friend.

What is the purpose of the 1st step forward? I want to understand it, and not just know how to do it.

Timing and because very often someone doesn't take the first step, they don't split.@@mrmuhtish
