Would the check engine light come on when fob battery goes dead? Or a coincidence?

The engine light has to do with the engine. It’s only coincidental that it has come on. Check your gas cap to make sure it’s tight.

thx gas cap is ok. It was 98 sitting in sun. Hopefully it’s a simple thing.
