    Im always doing it whenever I play volleyball and it's hard for the opponent to survive the ball. And because of this I got new technique. When I'm spiking the ball I don't jump harder I'm just controlling my leap for me to see the hands of the blockers and hit the ball so hard so that the ball will surely go outside. Thanks coach for this video. From Philippines ❤️

    Yessir I think those types of shots are actually the hardest to defend since the ball often goes way outside of where the defenders are standing when you tool the block

    Hi coach, I have been subscribed to your channel for a while now and I would like to thank you for all the effort you put in this to help others. I myself have learned a lot from you, and because of that I am a more valuable team member and a better player overall. You are, as far as I know, one of the few people to explain a technique or situation so simplistic and easy to follow. Thank you for dedicating all that time and effort just to help others you probably don't even know.

    Great video! I’m a setter but been trying to get better at hitting so I’ve been working on my vertical. However, never learning how to properly hit after playing volleyball for 6+ years has been noticeable 😭 Hoping to increase my options as a hitter since I don’t see myself as a power hitter, but rather as a “garbage man,” doing something smart with the ball every time

    Do you also have to be lucky in order to tool the block? It seems very difficult to spike/aim the ball while watching the blockers set up (i.e., in the blink of an eye). I know coaches talk about 'seeing the court', but unless you know the blocker(s) tendencies isn't it hard to react that quickly. Do you agree or disagree?Thanks for another great video -- I watch them religiously.

  • @TheMostAtNoon

    @TheMostAtNoon

    imo It's still difficult. Having less than a second to see the ball and the block and the block is always gone be different. You have to predict where they are coming from, if they are late or not and then determine where to aim, etc. It's not a perfect technique but it gives spikers more options other than to hit it to the ground

    My spike is somewhere above 280, I too can't see the block well but still managed to score quite a lot via tipping,I do it by first checking if the middle is in a position to block me when I jump. If he's distracted I just hit the ball down ( you should be able to avoid one blocker if you're paying attention provided that the ball is not too tight to hit around , in which I will just tip the ball) If the middle is in position (and you know your chance of hitting around the block is relatively small)tho, I go up with tooling the block in mind, once the focus is not on hitting the ball down you will have a lot more time to think about where to aim. I'm no professional tho, just hope this helps:)

    Hey Coach. Can you and/or Josh show us you guys hitting some Minus Tempo quicks?

  • @TheMostAtNoon

    @TheMostAtNoon

    7 жыл бұрын

    A minus tempo is when the spiker jumps before the ball is set as seen in Haikyu and on rare occasions in actual games. Just thought you guys might have fun doing it. Think of a shoot but the spiker jumps as high as they can and the setter sets it with more speed towards the spikers swing

    What do you tell the athletes you coach when their hitting is off?

    It's almost always mental when that happens, so I would recommend watching some sports psychologist videos on the issue. A lot of times for me it's when I get shut down at the hitting position and then I lose a lot of my confidence and then don't make great decisions

Thx coach, I have been subbed for a while and now, and I already watched a lot of your tutorials, but I just found out about this vid a few mins ago and this is the kind of attack im looking for if I wanna be a spiker because Im short. And now because of u I think I can fight in the air and I also think im invincible with this kind of attack once I master it. :D

    If you can accurately and consistently tool a block on every play, you are far more valuable of a hitter than a guy that can bounce ball. It is always better to be a smarter player (aka the guy who has every shot, roll, tip, etc. in the book) than a dumb hard hitter (aka the guy who swings at everything). If you can tip 25 points, then tip 25 points. Just look at players like Poland's Kubiak, and Serbia's Kovacevic, both not the biggest of hitters, but both are huge threats at the net or even backrow due to how smart and versatile they are as players.
