Your message of spreading kindness resonates throughout the world. A few weeks ago, I saw an old lady breaking down on the middle of a busy highway. The local sheriffs pushed her vehicle out of the intersection. I was able to get her back on the road by simply swapping some relays.

Awesome fix! As a quick add if your parts are going to be chemfilmed/ alodine or anodized the filler will be much more obvious. Paint or powder coat and it will totally disappear. I know your joking but its worth adding if your doing that on a customer peice its good to check with them. The downgraded strength from the heat affect zone could impact their final use.

Hi there, very interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍 I've got some holes in a car body panel I need to fill. It's only 1.2mm thick and was wondering if I could use the Brass trick which is where you clamp the panel to a block of brass then fill it all from one side as its pretty thin. I know this works with steel but not sure about aluminium 🤔 Kind regards Paul 🇬🇧

One side is going to be upside down. Which do you fill first? And what if you can't get to the top side at all? How do you get good penetration to the top of the hole in that situation? How much does the plate warp after a fill like this? I use the same procedure on steel and it warps catastrophically. To undo the warp, I beat the weld down like a rivet to expand the shrunken area. I wonder whether that will be a safe thing to do with aluminum and whether it needs annealing first.

Something this small, and in 1/4” plate it didn’t move at all. I do have some tricks to correct warping in parts. Usually includes lots of wood blocks, a rubber mallet and if super bad, a hydraulic hand press. Gotta work at keepin er straight sometimes!

Use a guard. Please use a guard. If you’re using a cheap grinder that doesn’t allow easy turning of the guard, then dump it, spend another $30 for a good one with an easily adjusted guard. You’d be surprised at just how dangerous these things are. The number of people going to the hospital every year from this is in the tens of thousands. Too bad the loss of an eye can’t be made up. The rimes you don’t need a guard is with Scotchbright. But remember that angle sanders don’t turn at 9,000-11,000 rpm. They turn at 2,500 rpm. You need to have a place to donate to.
