The Jarigai side has to visible,. it is the someone told that in a old video or somewhere else not to show Jarigai. In that case no need to buy a good Jarigai saree good show it in the opposite side.

I learnt it by focussing on the Jharighai What we have to do is to fold the plaits which has to be kept at the back of your left leg first . Bring it from your left hip to right hip via front to the back of your right leg focussing on the jharighai You should keep the saree in a manner in which the bright side of the Jharighai is seen nicely when you are covering the belly. Your left leg folds should also be folded in a focussed manner to get the Jharighai displayed properly. Now Pattu mami is ready

Hi. Very informative. Can you also explain whether we can have shoulder pleats in madisar. I have seen young ladies who tie this very elegantly complete with pinned up shoulder pleats like we do for normal 6 yards.

We always progress 5 steps and go backwards 10 steps and follow the rituals blindly without any logical reasons. We are brainwashed from childhood to follow the old rituals without giving any proper reason. This attire is giving the ladies so discomfort and come what may we have to bear the difficulty. Y not pundits are not flexible and allow whichever dress is convenient? Nothing is going to happen when we do the rituals in 6 yards, after all money matters for them...

absolutely correct. this is not comfort to wear. but if you try to wear it daily like 6 yards saree or a Chudidhar, you will find it wearing it in just less than 3 minutes. its all about how you look into rituals, if you look from good side, it will look good. Go ahead and try wearing madisar.

i also want to learn iyengar saree no readymade type please show that it is helpful to many of us i am expecting as early as possible.

Veena Narayan the whole point is that you don't. This saree is specifically worn on auspicious occasions like tamil weddings and poojas. These functions take 6 to 8 hours. If you go to the toilet you will defile yourself. According to tradition, the knots tied on the body control certain pressure points which will control your natural urges. This helps you concentrate on the pooja and you will not feel like going at all. This applies to any Brahmin style saree in India. Part of the saree is loin cloth and part of the saree is the actual saree draped over the loin.

Madi Sar refers to the material which is traditionally considered pure in aura and worthy to wear for worship such as Naar Madi ( a material made from bark that is still popular in Bengal and Orissa) or Silk that has been washed fresh after a bath and hung to dry AND retrieved by the wearer.
