Wow! So different from how I lace mine. The tightest part of the lace-up, for me, is at the ankle line to give extra support. The top two are fairly loose so the leg above the ankle can move. After lacing, my skates have enough room for 2 fingers inside at the top. Once I'm warmed up, the laces don't ever loosen. But I've been skating since the 70s so maybe this is a new school of thought. And I always skate in Reidell.

Wow, thank you for this video! It seems so basic but I've been skating about a year now and have been really struggling with my backwards glides and landing my waltz jump correctly...only to have a coach tell me my skates are way too loose and I might be tying them wrong. Guess what...I am! I haven't even been using the top hook...well I put my bows around the top hook and tighten it but I bet its not nearly as tight as just using the hook normally. Thanks again!

I loved to skate when I was 5 years old m every Monday after school I jumped out of bed and screamed “Omg after school we are going to the ice skating rink!” I made progress untill 2 months of going to ice skating my first performance! After my performance I was angry cause I felt that I wasn’t good enough so I quit at the age of 6. Now now 6 years later I’ve been inspired of you to continue skating and I miss the feeling of being flawless on the ice. Thank you so much for inspiring me , I’m starting again next week and I can’t wait!! Ilysm!! Thank you.

I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for putting it up! Your hard work shows. Can you do a comparison video of Rockerz blade guard and gurardog blade guard? Is one lighter than the other or better? I feel like most advanced or competitive skaters use Rockerz, is there a reason for that? I'm just always curious about that. I use guardogs.

I'm gonna tell you my storytime about figure skates. Apparently yesterday i was going with my family to skate. Skates there were so uncomfortable. Then we got home and my mom gave me figure skates. Those were her skates. They were not new. It were dirty and scribbled. I just cleaned them with alcohol and washed the laces . So now they are like new.

americangirlemzies13 I just got my Jackson’s today!! I’m sooo in love bro 🥺! I have a question tho! When you first got them did you have to get your blades sharpened? Or were they fine for a while?

If any of you guys are new, the Riedell emeralds are probably the best skates to start with until you start singles. Then buy something else that your coach wants just don’t buy Edea skates unless if you are willing to spend a lot of money often.
