I tried this with my grandpa's 1970s polyester kipper tie and the knot is bigger than my head 😂 That is a really neat knot, I've never seen one like it before!

With knots like this it's critical that you not only have a tie that is long enough, but you need the thin style of tie as well. A standard width tie won't work for these kinds of knots.

You need to keep the knot tight throughout the whole process too, which is quite hard actually.

This is something Patrick Bateman would want to learn.

I call this knot the "I just graduated from a middling university and I'm going to my first job interview that I'm only slightly underqualified for but I think I can talk my way into it because my frat brothers think I'm very charming and I think this complicated knot will look cool but it might come loose a little throughout the day assuming I even made it look nice to begin with so it will end up looking half pretentious half sloppy which is a pretty accurate description of me" knot.

Once you've got it down a normal tie is long enough, been doing the eldridge myself for years now 👍 tou just gotta pull it tight and work the slack through each loop and fold

Would you be able to show the whole length of the tie and the proportion of the length of the thin and the wider side of the tie?

I’ve always done the Windsor or eldredge knot, but I’m gonna try the william knot, thanks!

If your thin end comes too short in the finish you must to do it longer in the start
