Omamori (御守) are small paper or fabric packets received in exchange for donations given to a Japanese Shinto or Buddhist temple. The front of the packets, which are not to be opened, show the name of the temple at which they were received. And the back of the packets show a benefit gained for possession of the packet. Omamori are typically sealed with a Japanese Tassel Knot, which the following video will show you how to tie.

For my drawing class, we are supposed to tie an omamari knot, and my teacher couldn’t explain it well............and she even recommended this video, and in like, half an hour, I figured it out. To all those people who are reading the comments, because they are struggling with this, just don’t give up, have patience, have passion, and just like, look very closely, if you think it’s exhausting, look at my hands! (My hands totally oofed)
Love the way he/she stops after each part to give you time to work it out. . Great wee video thanks.
Great video, and the time you took with each step will be exceptionally helpful when I actually attempt this in about an hour. ;) On another note, in researching making of the omomori and materials, I came across, what appears to be, the actual name for the omomori tassle knot. There are a few different names and can be slight variation, but I believe it's called the agemaki knot, which is closely related to the sauvastica knot (buddah knot) and the true lovers knot. There are some discrepancies in many articals due to historical variation, so don't quote me on this, but I thought I'd share. Thanks again & good luck everyone!

thank you for the tutorial ♡ is there a way to make the first loop with 2 strings too, like the other two loops?
Beautiful.Would you please show how these are used to seal the Omamori and knots that can be tied around gift boxes in general. Can cord be used instead of paper for Mizuhiki?
nice
Merci ❤❤❤
very nice thankss and very hardd :D
Fantastic video, easy to follow even for me, a total disaster when it comes to tying anything.
Sehr nützlich und hübsch, danke.
I agree with the katana knot, do you know of the knot usually tied around their waists while wear armor???? If u find out can you please show us that too? Your awsome
ohhhhhhhhhhhh Thank you!!!!! *0*
Good job tho
really cool, what kind of material is this?
Just wondering Do you know what the name of the knot is on the end of this Mala bead bracelet? And/or how to do the knot itself? I have been looking everywhere lol

@tyingitalltogether i have music recomendation... i would love to see E.S. posthumous in one of your videos... PLEASE!!
What type of string are you always using ?
This knot appears in Miyuki incense bag beading kit and is part is giving me trouble from watching the video I can see where I'm going wrong. The bead weaving part is easy just this knot which completes the design the top loop is small closer to middle. There are clear diagrams I don't know much Japanese text to figure out what it says.
Ну, что тут скажешь? Если Молодец!!!
Why did mine only come out like a triangle in the middle? Like its missing one of those four knots in the middle part Edit: Oh nevermind. I tried it once more and it turns out I missed the second step lol tsym for this. I learned something new today ^^
@BlazinRedxDragon 550 paracord :)
LOL, i was like *is that a PEEEEENNISS!!!*
Great instructions, thanks! Protip for beginners, don’t bother doing this with string that’s not straight. I’m trying to re-do this knot after it came undone, and my plasticy nylon string is too bent out of shape after being knotted for so long.
what kind of protective capacities are on the omamori?

Anyways, you can use any type of string, as long as it isn’t that thin, cause I accomplished mine with a tiny, and thin string

I am lying here at 6:30 am, because I was so pissed off at my scummy, shoddy knot I did a few days ago. now thanks to this video I have just managed to successfully do it after one 27 tries!!!!!
Huh, interesting, this is almost like a Brigid’s cross.
don't get it
I tried this and ended up with a normal knot in a piece of string.

That is the most horrible music (?), noise, I have ever heard on KZread. It was a mix of fingernails on a chalk board, Smurfette being sexually tortured to death, and a cats balls being eaten off by a giant rat.
