Blake, I heard your name come from Trey Rider during yesterday's ACL podcast. Best of luck in the future. Also, I think your instruction vids are helpful.

Hey guys I love the videos. I've been messing with the butterfly grip and was curious how you're laying your fingers under the bag? I've been laying my fingers flat under the bag but was wondering if I should be digging them in to the bag so to speak to get more of a finger blast?

I have such a hard time throwing with the butterfly grip it feels so unnatural and awkward throwing with that grip. I have a lot of practice to do to get comfortable with it! Love these types of videos!

Great tutorial for sure in trying to throw a cut shot! That’s awesome you’re able to achieve that. But to be honest, as I saw your demonstration throwing from the left of the board with actually a opponent bags on the left side, I rarely ever see 2 bags in my lane like that. I do practice a lot with the one opponent bag in my lane because that will happen more often then 2. And I have success just hitting the corner of that bag and spinning around for it to fall in the hole. I think the only time I would even want to use the cut shot that you’re demonstrating is if my opponent had first bag. And I would already have one in the hole. My opponent would have to throw his or her first two the left in which I could just either lay up to the right and block his or her lane. Then that would be either a push shot/ block or airmail for their third bag. And depending upon what that person does would make me decide what my third bag would be. Either way I am even or ahead in the round. I am not saying that the cut shot wouldn’t be the best choice however one has to be proficient in that shot to put the first bags in the hole. I would rather place my bag in their lane then to try that cut shot and take a point or two at the end of the round. Because the last bag for my opponent in my scenario either airmails or lays up. If he/she hits it; and I throw mine either I lay up for a wash or go for the airmail and take 2. I am just pointing out that not very often does an opponent at a high level throw off from the hole twice and a higher level thrower will come out just fine without a cut shot. Even though I am consistently working on it….lol. I just feel like players have to think about the probability of shots and is it worth not giving your partner first bag and maybe just one point. If your cut shot is solid and 100% by all means go for it. But for me I cannot do that, but I can get around bags….

Everybody has shots they feel comfortable with and shoot well. Keep perfecting those shots and work on the new ones to add to your arsenal. Thanks for the comments!

Another great video! Please keep them coming. The right-to-left cut shot for the right-handed throw makes a lot of sense. This video pairs perfectly with the Cornhole Science videos on the physics of bag tilt. Can you do one on the mechanics of a left-to-right cut for the right-handed thrower? ...I'm specifically trying to get the release consistent(pinky under thumb?) for the left tilted bag to get around a blocker in my lane while throwing from the right side, but finding I lose good bag rotation in flight. Also, how much grip pressure do you use with the butterfly grip? I can't seem to get the two corners to touch unless I really pull down with my thumb, but then it feels like I'm squeezing the bag too hard which makes the release a bit wonky. Thanks again for the great content, can't wait to see more.

Reverse the rotation of the Earth :) Actually, if you experiment with the angle of the bag before release it, you can get a good feel for how the bag will move when it hits the board.

Wail your playing the game. During your game can you change your bags if you feel the ones you're using aren't working for you.

Players are not allowed to change bags during a game. If it's 2 out of 3, you change in-between games in most cases.
