I followed this tutorial and managed to make one pretty successfully after a couple tries. I’m really scared to glaze it now. I’m going to make some test glazes first before I commit to a color!

Your attention to detail boggles my mind, both in creating the stonewares and the video. Simply amazing.. This time around I watched the ASMR version first and I can almost feel you thinking and I kind of anticipate your commentary. It's surprising to see there is some new information in every video, though the processes are seemingly similar. And watching your video definitely gives a sense of calm.. Thanks a ton.. Great job... 💐

Nice. I threw an ink well that I modeled off a mid 19th century U.S. well, from when mass production still meant hand thrown. It's a near exact shape as yours but about 38mm diameter. They were sold full of ink with a paper label of the ink brand and ready to go.

It adds value to the piece ia way that no mass production process is able to. I'll sabe the link. Maybe I could by a set some day. It would be amazing have a spot, at my home, only for the art orf writing with focus e relax, with pleasure in writing. Thanks for the video.

I haven't done a shop restock in a while now! But I plan on doing one this month, it tends to be that I do 3 or so a year, so it is a rare event. It's worth knowing they generally they sell out quite quickly, in about 5-10 minutes. I have a newsletter you can sign up to on my website though, there I'll send out an advanced notification email for when the updates will occur.

Calligraphers use ink pots. Some artists do also. There is actually a decent market for dip pens and ink pots. Many of us who have one tend to collect multiples.

Glad you liked them! I sell them as sets with the ink dip pens, rarely alone, that being said, lots of folk who've bought these inkwells also use them as bud vases for small flowers/stems. Surprisingly though, there is a market for the pens and wells too, I suppose calligraphy has seen some kind of resurgence, in the same way pottery has. I've also been told that these are often purchased as gifts for friends/family who are keen letter writers, so there is certainly a market!

So, why such a deep well with such a short pen? This seems wasteful or just poor design. Your pot and pen should be of similar depth or you are using more ink to be able to reach the pen to the actual ink.

You have to see the ink in the well otherwise you dip your pen too deep and corrode the ferrule. That’s why most inkwells are either transparent or designed with a wide mouth that allows you to see the ink inside. This is not an inkwell in any practical sense.
