Excellent point about the bat path. I had a curve/sinker that would make batters look silly. Too bad I threw it too often my arm would get tired quicker.

when I was in Babe Ruth League around 1989 I accidentally found this pitch - exact grip. I worked until I could control it most of the time. I threw on over the backstop once 😂 My coach always gave me a signal when he wanted me to throw it. Maybe 6-7 times in a game. Once per inning maybe. He would make a motion like he was twisting a cap off a bottle and it was time. I could throw it at a batter's head and it would drop in over the middle of the plate a good bit of the time. Or scare the dude half to death. It was like a wild west moment for me as a young pitcher to have this sort of secret weapon. Long story short, I didn't even play baseball in high school, and years later in my professional life as a minister he invited me to come speak to a group of young kids at a spiritual event and introduced me as a guy who, as a kid, could throw a a pitch like a man among boys. That was such an unexpected and humbling moment for him to remember me and this silly little skill so fondly. And this video just brought all back to me.

Same here but was taught to release it more like a football cuz I throw 2/3 so it was almost like a fast 12/6 curveball it would look like a strike then drop right on home plate

That ain't a knuckle ball his fingers fully grasp the ball to create spin a knuckle you essentially use your finger tips with no spin
