I hadn’t seen someone make a lid by going all the way to the wheel head and then lifting from the middle like that, I’m going to try it, thank you! One of my pottery teachers told me the two sided calipers…one side measures inside of opening and one side measures outside of opening.
i actually clapped when i saw you teaching how to make the lid - never seen that done before - will try this tomorrow!!!! thank you so much! :)
Great demo! I always learn something from you every time I watch!
That first lid! All sorts of ideas … thanks
Glad I found your KZread channel!
Thank you for sharing this! Ive been starting some of these just winging it. This is helpful for me to refine it. 😊
Very cool!
Not seen a lid made like this before, I've always thrown a bowl with a fat foot to enable to make the handle in trimming, certainly this a go next time iIneed a lid, thanks for the tip
So nice to watch a master thrower, I always learn so much. Really appreciate the post - I know its so time consuming to do videos. 😊

Good luck. I love making those raised lids
Wow! Something truly unique. I can’t wait to try this. Thanks so much for sharing your techniques!
Very cool Matthew. That's the first time I've seen the dome lid thrown that way. Most people throw it upside down and trim a knob. I'll have to try this! You make it look so easy. 😃
I would really like to see you make the larger casserole please.
Love that raised lid! Thank you for the demonstration.
Woo!! I can't wait to try it! I know I've mentioned it before, but I've taken more from your videos than any other youtube potter. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

You’re welcome!
Thanks for sharing!!! I am a newbie and learned so much. One comment about the calipers though...is one side not the inside diameter and the other side the outside diameter, the reason why they measure differently???
Noice!
Great video! It would be cool to have a video of you setting them up with wadding to fire.

That is a good idea. The biggest trouble is that when we start loading the kiln I have so much going on I can’t usually think about recording videos. I’ll keep it in mind though.

Please video the other casseroles as you make them please.

Do you have to use special clay for a casserole dish?
