You can actually make this design to work with either type of candle if the middle is made the size of a taper candle.

Matthew, forgive me for my judgemental thoughts about how easily you center clay HAHA....I am just a beginner and have watched every video possible on how to center and it still gives me fits from time to time. Thanks for sharing.
