I learned more in the 24 min video than I learned in practice. Love it, subscribed to him. I’ll start my first Urgent Care job as a nurse practitioner on Friday and I’m nervous as H double L

I am an RN, Regarding wait times I often lightly make the Joke “ if humans were like cars it would be like jiffy lube 20 min per individual , but we are not”.. I then say “ people take more time and are important, you are important, I’m going to take proper time with your care to ensure your needs are met. “ This technique first gives my patient a laugh, a nod from them, and let’s them know that the wait is due to our staff prioritizing proper care of every patient, them included. Additionally, I have worked in the hospital and urgent..urgent care providers have been the best when it comes to my next two points: do not speak medical to a layperson , and help out clinical staff if you were free…in the hospital I was doing an ekg, blood work and giving ordered meds and had a pa ( who went out for a smoke ) yelling that I had not done a repeated b/p for her..if you have time to take a break and your clinical staff is already stretched .. put the patient first and help out

I like how he talks about how to "influence" or be like-able by your staff and patients and it makes things better.. wow that is so true! yikes. so many people need to hear this, and it also gave me things I can work on too.

Love this content. Don’t work in urgent care but these principles are so useful in any practice setting.

I'm loving your presentation, but I have to chuckle. IRL, you can cast a shadow of likeability all you want. IF...they're not interested in being receptive? It ain't gonna work! Luckily...I believe the majority of the population...will be receptive! Thank goodness. There will always be those sticklers!
