One mans computer tower is another mans treasure. Came with an extra power supply strip for more fans. After helping allot of people and I was star struck. Shorts story short. Thanks for the help. I used to the electric straps on my ankle to ground your self so the cord is not in hands way. Also some special ankle straps for static electricity and special smocks shirts. Thanks for this. I should have done this before ordering a new PSU while in a total panic. After this test I plugged the connector back onto the MOBO and viola, my system is up and running again. It was however a weird situation with an EVGA 500W 80. For the second time now for now reason the PSU fan started spinning like crazy, almost like a hair dryer. Even after putting the PC to sleep. I pulled the plug but after that the System seemed completely dead. No start, no lights, no electrical noise.

i have a question with my power supply. I use the paper clip test on my PSU. its providing power but the PSU fan is not spinning. i know its providing power because i did not remove the HDD cable and fan that connected directly to PSU and my HDD is operational and the extra fan (not the CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN) is spinning. But when I connect it properly to the motherboard, there is nothing. No LED, HDD, any FAN whatsoever. Do I have a bad PSU if the PSU fan is not spinning or motherboard problem? Help.

In regards to static electricity, you need low humidity of about 40% to cause a static discharge that can damage your electronics. So depending on the humidity levels of the State you are in you will experience varying degrees of static discharge. The EVGA Supernova comes with Japanese capacitors that are supposed to be of higher quality than capacitors made in other countries. I'm not exactly sure what you were asking about the capacitors in regards to the CPU and motherboard, but the PSU provides power for all components within the computer (CPU, HDD or SSD, GPU, Motherboard).

Ok , so I did you're test, and the computer actually booted witch made me super happy. But it wont boot when I connect the 24 pin in the motherboard. The motherboard have some rgb and a power led witch functions probably. What can cause this fault then?

Thank u very much for this! I tried this, as my pc died, and the psu fan came on fine and also one of my case fans, but after 5-10 seconds the case fan slowed right down and started making a wierd noise, but the psu fan was spinning fine. Does this mean the psu is not providing enough voltage, I don't have a multimeter? Thank you.

To be on the safe side and ensure your PSU is providing enough voltage, I would get it checked out by a PC repair shop where they would have a multimeter or a PSU tester.
