    Faster test, just test center pins. they usually not drail, so no need to know is it P or is it N and other stuff.

    I'm doing that already very long time. I don't mess with burned motor rewinding though (see fishpepper's blog abot this subject) - it is beyond me now. But dead component replacing often is faster and cheaper for me instead of waiting for new ESC-s and FC-s.

    I just ordered some top of the line esc's that you reviewed because of the good results. I plan to use the current limiting feature to help reduce damage when the prop jams. I was wondering if you think that would help or are the MOSFET's done for if the jam duration lasts too long. Plan B, will a small aluminum heat sink help? Wondering why they aren't put on by the manufacturer. Thoughts?

  • @Inertia888

    @Inertia888

    Жыл бұрын

    I can tell you that when running these mosfets as hard as we do, a heat sink will certainly help them. I think the heat sinks don't always come with the esc for weight reduction reasons. Possibly price too, but for quads that are aiming to stay under 250g, it makes sense to not use a heat sink, since there is a high rush of air cooling the electronics during flight. So, I don't know about the limiting feature, but if weight is not an issue at your final weigh-in, a heat sink will not hurt, but is not absolutely needed.

    Thanks for the video. Can you explain, why our ESCs are burning? Some of them have MOSFETs rated for much higher voltage and current than the ESC, but still they are burning. Yeah, we are pushing them hard, but still - they are rated for it. Also interesting that all fets on your ESC are burnt. I'm more used to see 1 really burnt and melted fet, and the others seem ok (or at least not melted).

    Just slave in another esc ! If it works, bad esc if no work, it's something else. That's what aircraft avionics techs do....lol their box changes. If you want to fix the bad ones in a bin and order your parts and bench repair them. I mean, if you do the continuity test and esc is bad, you're going to put a new one in any way. Don't waste your time. Repairing circuit boards are for professionals. You really need to know what you're doing. I worked on aircraft components, and you need to be trained. Good video. A mosfit is just a fancy switch, basically, with multiple on and offs. One is normally off the other normally on, or open & closed. That's the N & P

    Mad vid @Drone Mesh. I've of this tinyurl.com/ycd44qk8 and motor 3 won't run. The Mosfet test tells me all the Mosfets are fine. I've tried another motor but same result. Continuity exists between the ground pin on the FC JST pin plug with all esc Mosfets...what should I do next? Have ordered another esc to keep going but would like to trouble shoot this seemingly flawed one and either fix or toss it. Great vids...keep them coming.
