Thanks for keeping it simple and easy. Other dudes go way back to when ,who, why where, and more after 3hrs say the answer. You said it in less then 60 sec 💪👍👍

Fact. But no click almost guarantees that it’s bad. If it clicks it’s worth a try

You still have to test the normal open or closed posts to make sure its making solid contact using a volt.meter.

Good way to see if the coil works, but the contacts might be burned up inside. Test for continuity on the other terminals

Before my rant, question. While it's a 4 post relay, would there be any harm in shorting the wrong terminals while testing with a battery. I only really deal with relays on certain arcade machines with ball releases and motors. While i've worked on arcade machines for over 25 years, I learned everything on my own, but I never took any courses on electronics. While I know how to replace components, i've recently gone into learning the origins of the stuff and it's fascinating.

No, the other terminals would not be connected if these 2 terminals do not activate the switch inside

  • @domineech

That's a good idea. I always would use my power probe and hook the ground wire to 1 side and power up the other. This is a lot faster and easier though.

It is testing to make sure the internal points still activate and close. Its is definitely only half the test, but it is the most common failure point.
