@@joelambert9500 try isolating the box using some strong plastic with glue and check, include a thin layer of foam to avoid further air leak (also helps increase bass thump). if not there replacing the box would fix it.

What would be a acceptable reading if they were in working order? Someone sold me two 12s for like 25 bucks just some ma audios solid enclosure. When I get them though he told me to check the inside because he might of unhooked the connection which I didn't know anything about car audio equipment at the time but now after doing research and hooking them up and only seeing vibrations of the cone not actually hitting like I see other woofers do it lacks that movement and that full bass sound. Also It makes no sense why you would unhook the sub inside if you were just uninstalling you would just disconnect the positive and negative from the one set of connections per 12 outside the box. So I just tried tuning them and they not sounding or acting right and before I hooked them up I heard like a screw or something loose inside the sub box and I mentioned it to the friend that I got it from and he just played dumb but it sounds to me like the voice coil came undone as well. Well looks like I have to order 2 new 12's for this enclosure or just get a whole sub and box maybe just 1 jbl 12 in a ported box or something any suggestions? I have 600watt RMS at 2ohms monoblock jbl amp the clubA600. I'm new to this hence the reason I bought a mono block but I have a 4 channel amp coming for my door speakers and tweeters. So any feedback or recommendations is great oh ya my ride is just a 2013 Nissan versa tiny Lil thing. Thanks for this video post! I seen it as I was tweaking on tuning this and it makes perfect sense.

Hey! I recommend the skar sdr 12, it's perfect for 600w RMS and they are on sale now at skar's website for Black Friday. I'd tune the gain on the amp to prevent clipping (I have a video on that) so it plays with little to no distortion and you don't blow the subwoofer. But the recommend that subwoofer as it is cheap and it sounded great before I ran it on too much power 😅

I'm not sure but I believe it is possible to rebuild it.

Correct, it is possible. I think that's more beneficial on units that are a bit more worth in price as the recone kit probably costs 80% of what the subwoofer costs new

In extent if your voice coil is completely blown (incomplete) it will read close to 0 ohms. In this video one of them read around 1.3~1.5 and the other read 2.5 ohms which is not good

It depends on which voice coil you have. If it is dual 2 then anywhere from 1.4 to 2.5 and if it's dual 4 I say like 3.4 to like 4.6

I think I’m overthinking on mine, I think I’m just used to how my two evl 12s sound 😂 bc it just hasn’t as loud the past 2 days but it’s minuscule. I’m hoping I’m overthinking this, gonna test my woofers this weekend

Yeah usually it's very obvious. I've been in your shoes before, check your ground for the amp or even the actual power wire too. It makes a huge difference

@@col98 hmm what about the wiring under the hood, does it look worn or even melted (I've been there before), and I guess you can check the coil condition using this video, and another thing could be RCA signal interference. Best of luck, lmk what you find

Most of the time this works, but best way to check is connect to audio source. I've seen subwoofers ohm out perfectly, not rub of make noise when pressing on the cone, and still not work when connected to an audio source.

@@UzsDc1UZ yea. I actually have a 10 inch JL Audio 10W7AE that ohms out and moves freely but won't play when connected to Amp. Maybe I'll make a video. But either way, MOST of the time, ohm meter and just moving the cone are perfect indicators. When I'm buying a sub though I want to hear it play or I don't buy it lol.

@@UzsDc1UZ lol yes. I have like 25 amps lol. I have a room full of car audio. JL Audio. Rockford Fosgate. ALPINE. Pioneer. Kenwood. Orion. The list goes on. I have 2 test benches set up. One is using an Orion 2500D Amp, Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS Headunit, and XS Power AGM Batteries. The other is similar but using a Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP and XS Power Lithium batteries.. I've got the CC1 and DD1 meters and volt meter to set gains and cross overs etc. I've got way too much car audio from JL w7 13.5s to Sundown Audio x8s and even a custom built Kicker Solo x 10. I promise, the sub I tested ohmed out fine but was not working hahaha

Hi, I would opt for an alpine mrp-m500 on ebay if you can find one for an affordable price and I've heard people liking the Taramps bass 400, you could even try the skar rp350.1, lastly you could try pioneer's sub 500w RMS amplifier. Either of those would work and are work horses, thanks for watching

@@paulweston8184 he is right though, wattage doesn't mean shit,many subs advertise the peak rating which doesn't matter much, you can have a "1500w" sub that will blow when you give it 500watts of clean power, the claim about getting a 250w sub to sound better is ridiculous unless the "3000w subwoofer" really is that bad but wattage doesn't really mean anything, there are a lot of factors that affect how well it sounds in the end.

I think you might be overloading your electrical. Before that, check your grounds and make sure all the ground points are sanded down and if that doesn't work try a new spot

There's a bunch of variables when it comes to volume adjustment but usually they set the adjustment on the gain level on the amp so that on your normal listening volume, the subwoofer level is right where it needs to be.

Let me take it its a junk Skar SDR. I blew one as well. I blew mine because I overpowered it by putting 601 rms was of power on it🤣🤣🤣 it rated for 600 but can't handle 1 extra watts on it.

I pushed mine with 800w rms for a long time, clipping is what kills woofers not power. Plus, it has a 2.5 inch voice coil there's not much you can do with a stamped steel frame and low venting

@@UzsDc1UZ I see yes I was probably clipping it but still my Soundqubed subs can play 10 minutes on clipped power before they stink. Now I might of damaged my Soundqubed coils by clipping them. I'm getting a big boy 8k Soundqubed amp so my subwoofers don't clip. They probably will blow from overpowering them next. Don't worry I'll turn the gain down so I don't put 4k on each 2250 watt subs.

Or it could be a blown fuse. Some sub woofers have fuses in them.

The amp might've went out, that's a case sometimes, also your RCA cables could be loose. Try getting a 3.5mm to RCA and plug your phone into the amp and see if sound comes out at low volumes. Worst case your subwoofer leads cam undone or your amp's output transistors could've fried. I think it's something simple though, let me know what else you find

Yes you can, some people wire one coil and blow that voice coil instead of the other but usually the voice coil blows or unwinds it'll cause a total failure and it might not even go through the gap because of added area from the coils unwinding

For example If you have a dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer each coil or set of terminals should read 4 ohms or somewhere close to that kinda like like 3.5 to 4.5. I think you can grasp the concept now

The multimeter should be reading 4.0 ohms - 4.5 ohms as that's what he said its wired to but its only reading 1.4ohms. That speaker is done. Just blow the rest up in smoke at that point lol
