*when my best friend: shows most of these signs, asks if he wants to call and play video games with me everyday, always giving me chocolate bars, does my apron, met my younger sister, asked about how protective my dad is, knows what music I listen to, stares at me in class, knows my darkest secrets, been through the same thing as me and is helping me out with my mental problems, spamming my messages at midnight to come play video games with him, talks a lot about me to his friends (inside info from one of his friends), saying to his friends that i am kind-hearted, a gift from god and that he would choose me to "be with" out of all the girls in our class, being supportive and caring on top of all of that* Me: yeah, he doesn't like me.. Also me: I- wow i might have a chance- Update: cHiLd rEeEe so I asked my friend if she could ask him to sing at the Santa show with me, tUrNs oUt hE sAiD nO- SO SOMEONE TOLD HIM I LIKED HIM, then he texted me his response, wasn't very good ;-; I kinda moved on from him and we kinda drifted apart, we're still friends though. i just learned recently that he used to like me, idk when but I missed my shot. i waited to long for the right time. so just learn from me, take your shot when you can, you never know, so just go at it. 2021 update?? I've moved on completely, and I'm happy I did It was getting out of hand and I'm really glad it stopped we no longer talk apart from classwork SO THAT'S ALL OVER LMAOO

This is eye opening I had this once. The friendship got damaged so many times though but now that we live 1300 miles away from each other and we're both married the chance of it coming back to anywhere near what it once was is slim to none.

Hope that one day i can have best friend male or female someone who will not betray me later.

Me and my friend flirt a lot. I got rejected by her twice last year and I told her I promise I wont ask her out ever again. And i always keep my word but she is making me second guess that saying quite recently.She says she wants to be alone with me at school,when we get back there in October,and always wants to be partners with me in class. And I asked her if she wants to hang out at my place today and quite quickly she said yes...I cant tell if she likes me or not and we do act like a couple normally 😂

i like my best friend and i told him. he told me that he doesn’t know if he feels the same way and he doesn’t want to hurt our friendship and wants to keep what we have. i’m just confused because this passed year he showed so many signs that indicated he liked me. some examples being he went to the netherlands for soccer and got me candy when he came back, always wanted to partner up with me instead of his friends, one of his friends even told me that i’m his favorite and if he could choose anyone to do anything with it would be me and always me. my friends and class have told us we seem like we are dating or ship us and he never denied it. also on the day i told him we went to the mall together with his older sister and she called her friend and said she felt she was third wheeling her brother’s date. idk i guess i’m just confused with the signs he showed me😂

I have a friend in my closest friend group, he's my friend's younger bro, but I really like him. I'm a year older, I think that he's probably just beginning to catch feelings and be in the crush business so I'm not gonna tell him now. And he does these things: - doesn't let me see his embarrassing photos, but lets others in our friend group - noticed when I was in pain from stabbing my finger, no one else did, i hid it well, he had to have been looking at me :) - he always takes over in the video game we like to play together when i ask him to cuz i suck - he's really funny, and tries to make my dad laugh - and he just is always is surprising me by small things he notices and remembers. @@_Lucas_811 Thanks, not yet. I haven't seen him much, just once after I wrote that comment, you know with Corona. But he has started flirting which is a step up from before. He was so sweet, and teased me, and my old crush came up in some old Kahoots we were replaying and he said "that's old news", and he brought me my fav chocolates!!! I think I'm falling in love with him!! I'm hopeful we will sometime next year, since i won't be able to see him much. I'm just concerned about the fact that his sister is one of my best friends. All of our friends are telling me not to tell her yet, but I hate keeping this from her. She was the nicest to me when I first joined the group, and welcoming, and I just feel kinda bad. REEEEEE SO I CAN SEE THE SHORT ONE? I Spent half an hour typing out that msg oh well imma type it again. I met my best friend by vein friends with a girl who is six yrs older than me. She told me about her rother, who happened to be in my class this yr for my first yr of highschool. Somehow we became great friends and now we hang out so much in the halls everyone thinks we r dating, or they say "we ship u two u look so cute together" we have thins little special game we play, similar to tag but more unique and flirty i guess u would say. Nearly every day we get someone. Say "ry dating?" Or " u should date" or " stop flirting so much ree" . My other friends tease me about him, cuz we hang so much. He cares a lot too. One time these gels were being rlly mean and annoying. For some reason I got upset , but he waited for me outside the PE changing rooms and encouraged me to tell a teacher. He looked like he was about to miser them. Recently I had a stomach ache at school, rlly bad cuz of a genetic thingo, he noticed and when I told him I hurt, he looks so worried, then old me he noticed that I haven't eaten a single thing at school since term one, and that I would eat. He nearly dragged me to the canteen to buy me something to eat but I wasn't hungry. His look of concern was so reassuring and I know I can trust him. The thin is that I have only kk own him since the start of this yr and we aren't as close as me and my best friend who is grl(like meh) but I have known her for five years. I have no idea I he likes me or not cuz whenever someone asks us if we like eachother we both say no, by i laugh and brush it off lightly but he goes semi serious and just says "no" I plan on testing th waters and hopefully by the end of this year or stray of next year we will be closer as great friends and finally be able to talk about this type of thing easier. My [idk if he's an ex] best friend's now dating someone he just knew for months, and she didn't directly say that she hated me, but she keeps giving a toxic glare around me for no reason (I think that's why my best friend and I aren't that close anymore....), I mean she's really pretty and tall (tho my best friend's not) but I still keep crying about these situations till this day ughhhh I can't even hang out with the dude anymore, huhuhu he used to subtly do certain signs to me back in the day (we've known each other since high school) But now...idk anymore, I just can't go near him anymore cuz of his girlfriend, I can't even ask for advice or a hug from him anymore w/o him ignoring it Anyways He use to do most (except no. 5 cuz we hate social media and 10, cuz he's dating lol) of these signs whenever I see or hung out with him, yet he keeps telling people that we're just friends/siblings in a chuckling manner also people (including friends and our family, even strangers) still ship us Ughh I'm confusion, and we're also about to graduate ugh, also hopefully this isn't like some sort of romance from miraculous ladybug (And yes my KZread name.....let's not talk about it)

I wont ever have a “guy best friend” again because how obsessive he became with me . Letting other guys friends know that they cant hangout with me if he wasn’t around because I was “his” and how we will marry in the future . Was always negative about whoever I dated . Making lies that I want to date him but he is making me wait although I’ve made it clear in the past I wasn’t interested in him. It got to the point I would get really irritated with him whenever we would hang out , and from that point I knew something wasn’t right and realize it was getting toxic.

So me and my best friend have been friends for almost 7 years now, but I’m starting to notice some of these signs in him. He’d always ask me if I wanted to hang out with him at this French park (none of us were French but it was the best playground to hang out at) and every time we went to the park it would always be kind of late and we would just chill and maybe do stuff on our phones. After a while, he started to make sex jokes with me but in my mind I thought they were funny to the point where I would try and make some with him as well. We were making them so much and at one point he started to joke around with moaning or stuff like that. I didn’t really take interest into it but he insisted so I ended up moaning with him and it was kind of weird if you ask me but we didn’t really have anything else to do anyways so um yeah. Soon after that he started to get a little touchy around me, ask me if we could both be sitting on the same swing, back-to-back, there were times where he would jump on my swing and put his legs around my back, and he would pressure me to do the same. This went on for a while, but I didn’t say anything because I believed he was a good person and I didn’t want to be mean or anything ~_~. He then made this little mini game where we are on the bridge where one person has to try and break free (lots of ramming into each other) and the other has to try and stop them from leaving the bridge. If I tried to go on the slide he’d put his legs around me and try to talk about life while he’s literally feeling my muscles and basically just squeezing me with his arms around my chest, and legs around my chest as well. Me being insecure and lonely I kind of just sat there like an idiot (a little harsh on me but I’m always harsh on me haha xd) Im not sure if I’m homo myself yet because I’m a little bi if I’m being honest but I always end up thinking about him at night, dreading over what he does to me, and what he wanted me to do to him. It kind of seems like he has feelings for me but they are just very deep and private. I’m still not sure though cause I tried asking him recently like in a deep conversation if he was gay and what all of the touching was about. He always told me he was joking, but I was not so sure. He would still put his legs around me and hell even if I trip to the ground he’ll try to sit on me and put his legs around my chest again and he’ll be acting as if he’s trying to screw me (sex acting basically) and whenever he comes over or when I go over to his house he tries to get us both alone in the basement and then he starts touching me and the other stuff all over again. Whenever he comes over to my place though I noticed he dosent do it as often because I have 2 sisters, my mom and her bf. So there were a lot of people walking around the house. So it would never happen as much at my house but if nobody else was in the house, he’d try to play some more of those touch games and he’ll force me to piggyback him around the room or on the floor and he would let me do the same to him afterwards. But then what was kind of like intense and Augh idk was that one day he asked if he came over because he had a bad day and of course I said sure because we were still good friends. Nobody was hole but that day after like an hour we were playing on my Nintendo switch, he lost in the game and he was pretending to rage, we also made jokes about that. But all of a sudden, he snatches my Kirby action figure from the living room (aka Kirby amibo) and I tried to get it back but he went in my room and I was trying to grab it from his hands, he got me into an awkward position on my bed and he was ontop of me, back-to-chest, and I was still trying to grab it and he was like giggling but then he turned around so it was now chest-to-chest. He just stared at me for like five seconds, and he hugged me and put his legs around me. It was so strange. But I managed to squirm myself out of there, and I got my Kirby amibo back so now he didn’t have a reason to be on me or anything. For the duration of that time we just played more Nintendo but then he left and looked at me in a charming way. I had no idea how to react. Every time I try and ask him about what he does he just says he’s joking but I’m seriously thinking that he has feelings for me, I just don’t know how to get him to admit it because it seems so real, and I cried every night constantly filled with thoughts and thinking about it. I’m starting to love him but I think I need more than one opinion on this. Please I need your guys’s thought or opinions. Do y’all’s think he is in love with me, or is it all just baloney?

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.

And also, it seems that fathers usually hate it whenever their daughter gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy), and it seems that they often hate the idea of their daughter dating, and many fathers seem against the idea of their daughters dating. There are even shirts made for daughters that say "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO EVER DATE" and shirts made for fathers that say "DADS AGAINST DAUGHTERS DATING". Help meh- So I met this dude on roblox, he asked if we could be friends so I said sure..
