How To tell If Your Basketball Is Fake or Genuine - Molten GM5X FIBA Basketball

Спорт

Coaches and players spend a huge amount of money, buying branded basketballs. So how disappointing would it be to find out the quality basketball you purchased, turns out to be a fake. But how can you tell if the basketball you own is genuine or fake?
We were lucky enough to be sent a fake ball from someone who had bought a ball and it turned out to be fake. Molten kindly got hold of this ball for testing and then gave to us to compare against a genuine FIBA Approved Molten GM5X basketball.
It was staggering how good it was however when put beside a real Molten basketball it was obvious where the forgery failed.
Take a look and if you have any doubts about the quality of your Molten basketball then either contact your retailer or Molten direct.
Keep watching to the end as I had an epic fail during the video and put a small montage together at the end.

This is exclusive to the Molten GM5X as other Molten basketballs are made slightly differently and may have embossed barcodes

The fake one actually looks better for my taste. It's surface is not wrinkled like the real one's and the embossed texts looks better on it than the printed ones which look like a cheaper solution.

Well, yesterday i just played some pick up basketball, and i suspect the dude had a fake ball. Km using some tarmak from decathlon until i get some good ball, and my ball has nice weight, which is around 550 grams, and as i am aware, basketball should weigh 620 grams. But this guy i played with had some molten ball which we used, and it was super easy light. It had a weird bounce, and at times seemed lika a potato...

Its funny how you can see some wrinkles on the real ball...ive got an old GL 7 and all the features were already there at the time. Still seeing wrinkles after the ball stored for such a long time...and starting playing with it. Grip from a real leather vs the other models is lower. I padi back in 2008 a lot of money from a retailer and I always felt cheaper balls had better feel.

The GL7X ball isn't game ready though so does take 90 minutes or so of use to get the leather in a playable condition. It may just feel odd as not game ready yet. Hi, obviously I cannot be 100% sure but would suggest one thing, if the ball looks priced at a deal that is too good to be true, then it probably is worth questioning the retailer. You can ask the Molten distributor to let you know the barcode, then check with the retailer what barcode is on the ball they are selling. Fake balls tend to have the wrong barcode. I hope this helps

You can also get on Amazon but make sure they are fulfilled by Amazon and not offered by a reseller. Finally I would also say usavolleyballshop.com/ sell the authentic balls in the US so should be able to supply quickly. I hope this helps

Hi Bla Bla sorry to see you leave however, if the markings do not match what the manufacturer says should be on the ball then surely it is obvious it is a fake. If everything matches then assume it is genuine if purchased from official retailers as listed on the brands website (Not all brands have a list on their website though as they may also sell direct and choose not to promote other retailers, even though many have placed forward orders and have spent many years supporting that brand)
