    Funniest babysitting gig I ever had was when the parent called exactly when 1 twin was in the middle of a bottle and the other had scooted backward and was “stuck” under a chair. Both were crying in the background as I tried to reassure mom that both were fine.

    My baby does a different/combo crawl where she gets into a plank position, then pushes her feet and hands off the ground to "jump" forward and lands on her belly LOL. I guess its a combination of the belly crawl and bear crawl with a jump added? It looks a bit dramatic, almost like shes trying to swim using the "butterfly stroke", but on land lol

But he refuses to stay in the all fours position, he will kick his legs straight and go on his tummy right away. And it's hard to even get him into all fours, he seems to fight it and wouldn't bend his knees. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    @@abbyxiong1917 Start off by letting your baby push off of your hand while lying on the tummy to move forward a little at a time. Also continue to practice the activities I mention in this video. At first it will be hard to do some of these them, but with practice you and your baby will get better at them. It’s a gradual process for them to learn to crawl. Just giving your baby a lot of play time on the floor and doing tummy time will go a long way in helping your child learn to crawl.

    Thank you for watching this video. Not all babies will do the classic hands and knees crawl. If your baby does the army crawl, then she's crawling. You can try to do activities as I suggest in the video to try to encourage your baby to learn to do the classic crawl. However, I would not worry at all if your baby doesn't master it but goes on to start walking instead.

    Will crawling in the different styles affect muscle or hip development? For example… crawling with one foot on one leg and knee on the other leg. (Asymmetrical) Versus the classic crawling position (symmetrical)?

  • @friendlykiddoc8796

    @friendlykiddoc8796

    2 жыл бұрын

    Crawling using the different styles will have the baby using some muscles more than others. However once they start walking, it all tends to balance out. Therefore it should not be a problem for the baby.

    Tummy time and crawling are not easy for babies. Therefore it's not surprising that some of them are resistant to doing them. Do what you can on your part to encourage your child to spend time several times a day on her tummy. Choose one or two of the activities that I suggest in this video, that you think your baby will tolerate doing the most, and consistently practice them with her.

    Thank you for seeking my input. All babies have their own unique timeline of achieving the developmental milestones, like sitting and crawling. The month marks I mention are just the average. There are babies who will start doing it later, but their development is still normal. It's great to hear that your baby is able to sit, even if it's with support of pillows. Keep giving her time playing on the floor, and try the different activities mentioned in the video.

    It sounds like your baby is developing well from what you mention. There is no need to worry about the crawling. All babies develop on their own timeline. The ages I mention are just averages for when babies master the particular developmental milestone. Also not all babies do the traditional hands-and-knee crawling style, and that's ok.

Some babies start to crawl as early as 6 months, but some not until 11 months. It depends on how your baby is progressing with her motor development.

    Thank you for your instructions. As a native English speaker the use of pronouns can be confusing. The video jumps from He to she. This is OK, but you could use more gender neutral terms such as "them", "their", "they", "they're". I would like to see more examples. Never the less I feel your videos and advice are good and I have decided to subscribe as such. Thanks again. Our baby is 5 months old. She is OK at holding yuo her head and can readily roll over on to her front. (Needs work on rolling back on to her back She does not yet prop herself up in her knees. What excerises can we do to encourage her to get on "all fours"? Thanks

  • @friendlykiddoc8796

    @friendlykiddoc8796

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your feedback. Most baby's aren't strong enough to get on all fours on their own until after 6 months. As demonstrated in this video, you may try placing your hands under her knees and guiding the legs into a position of being bent at the hips and knees, while she holds her upper body up with her arms. If she still needs help supporting the upper body, place one hand under her to hold her upper body up and with the other hand guide both legs into a bent position. Initially she may only be able to stay in the position for several seconds. But with practice, the muscles will get stronger, and she will start getting onto all fours on her own. I have a separate video that talks about how to teach a baby to roll over in both directions. If you want to check it out, it's at this link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dWqIwdl_iMmanrQ.html
