Maybe try handpoking? I can draw and hand poke really well but even using a pen on paper is not for me. Pulling lines just isn't my thing which is why I find using individual dots better to work with

Depends on your hand speed. Too high of voltage with too slow of hand speed, you will destroy the skin. To low of voltage with too fast of a hand speed, you will have weak lines. Practice on yourself to get a better feel for it.

Thats a great question! For this line I was running at 7.5 volts. For me I typically line at 7.5-8 volts depending on the machine I am running and of course the needle size I am using. If I am running smaller needles the voltage wont be the same as larger groupings.

@@atrociousrabbit4378 If you're snagging skin, it's because of one of three things. 1. You're running your needle too far out and your stroke length isn't long enough to fully retract the needle out of the skin causing it to snag. 2. You're not stretching the skin tight enough and tuning the needle too far out. Or 3. You're running your machine way too slow/soft and the needle doesn't have time/strength to fully retract from the skin as your hand is moving. Your needle-out length should only be between 2-3 millimeters at most. Get a good stretch on the skin, run you power supply between 6-8 volts, and always make sure the needle is able to fully retract into the tube.
