What you need is a tiny whip and a small chair to hold them back with while you tame them... Ok just kidding obviously, I adore the little critters. One thing to think about when you wonder what makes them happy is what they would do most of the time in the wild, exploring, finding new things for the nest or food, having a nice big hoard of food back in the cage, things that by nature they live for.

Yay my hamster loves toilet paper, he immediately goes to build a nest when I give him some! Also I 'tamed' him with food too. For the first week I gave him a couple of seeds from hand while he had hamster mix in his bowl. Now he lets me hold and pet him

I've had my syrian hamster for 7 months and he is still shy. He only eats out of my hand and will put his little hand on the palm of my hand sometimes. If I try to pick him up he'll doing a kung fu pose 😅I just let him be lol.

im giving mine food but he is still scared any tips Ive had him for 5 months but i used to just manually pick him up cus he would be scared the reason i did that was because my old hamster was i guess smart cus he got tamed really fast so i gave up on taming him now im taming him but do u have any tips for him being scared

you could give him treats, but only when he comes out, and you could start by petting him, instead of getting straight into picking him up

My hamster was also traumatized, but in the first 2 weeks of getting her I made sure to go slow by giving her treats and petting her before picking her up

Maybe give him treats while your holding him, and not just letting him take them out of your hand
