It’s important for hairstylist to know and understand how to treat different hair types. Happy that he’s learning. I thought about living in South Korea a few years ago but was definitely concerned about where and whom I could trust to take care of my hair. I imagined having to drag a closet full of my own products and give a step by step tutorials 😭

I’m Chinese with wavy hair, even for me I would commonly get wrecked at hair salons. Thick wavy hair is just not that common, so they don’t understand how certain haircuts puffs it up like crazy. So many bad experiences.

This is so cool. As a black woman with type 4 hair I love seeing other curly girls. I’ve never come across a Korean with naturally curly hair of this curl pattern. It’s beautiful! I’m glad she rocks her curls. Her curl pattern is similar to what I have in the back of my head. Like most curly haired people I have more than one curl pattern. The back, sides & top are all different haha it’s a lot but I love it.

Most east Asians have straight hair, some have slight waves. The type of hair you see in this video is very rare though. I lived in Korea for over a decade and I have never heard or seen Koreans having naturally tight curls.

It took me so long to accept my curly hair being a biracial girl (half white, half black), and see a Korean accepting her curls make me feel so happy!! It's a relief when you finally realize that your hair It's pretty and can stop hiding your curls. I hope in the future more and more people with curly hair start to show it proudly in Asia EDIT: just to clarify, because some people can't read a text properly 🙄, I DIDN'T ACCEPTED MY CURLY HAIR BECAUSE OF AN ASIAN GIRL, I was just trying to express my happiness toward Asians accepting their natural hair. I started to like my curls 4 years ago because of black Brazilian women.

The grass is always greener on the other side it seems because i have straight hair and my whole life ive loved curly hair. I would always have em in overnight curling braids/buns etc. And only recently I've really started to appreciate straight hair. Im south asian btw.

as a black woman I find it so cool seeing this, I rarely seen Koreans or any non black person with this type of curl pattern. It really pretty and I’m glad she rocks her curly hair. I didn’t think this comment would get so many people saying I need to research more, travel more, or that I live under a rock lol I just thought it was cool to see nothing else. let’s make things clear, I don’t travel much and I know other people can have curly hair I just said I find it cool to see people with this type of curl pattern. I know black people aren’t the only people to have curly hair lol woah got folks mad under this comment 😭

한국인들도 정도의 차이지 곱슬기있는 모발이 절반을 넘어요. 미용실가면 곱슬이 죄인처럼 느끼게끔 반응에 늘 움츠려들게 하면서 곱슬머리를 전문적으로 관리하는 법은 가르쳐주질 않고 매직만 강요받죠. 국내는 제품조차 직모위주 혹은 안티 곱슬위주라 구매도 힘들고 시행착오로 포기할까도 많이 생각했지만 곱슬머리컬을 생각해서 컷해주시는 디자이너분 만나서 만족중이에요. 전용제품 출시 부탁해요!!

너무 공감합니다 실제로는 모두들 자기 반곱슬이다 곱슬이다 라고 생각하는 비율이 굉장히 많을텐데 생머리를 제외한 스타일링이 거의 터부시돼서 다들 매직하고다녀서 대부분 다들 서로를 생머리라고 인지하고 사는거같습니다 여기 댓글만해도 다들 '한국에서 저런곱슬 처음보네요' 라는 반응이 대다수인데 실제로 저컬타입 가지신분들이 소위 '악성곱슬'이라는 이름으로 꽤 많으실거에여 ㅎㅎ

I enjoyed watching this! It’s important for everyone to know how to style and care for their natural hair. Hairstylists should be taught how to treat different textures. I’m glad you are bringing awareness that straightening isn’t necessary.

I'm so happy to see more people finally getting into loving their natural curly hair, and learning to manage it. there are so many videos out there on youtube to learn. So there is no excuse, if you want to learn, the information is right here. glad to see people are getting more interested. I think everyone should learn the basics so the inappropriate comments can stop. I think if more people in Korea would wear their natural hair, you'll notice how many have natural curly hair and it will be normalized.

It is not common for Koreans to have curly hair and it is super rare that curly hair comes out nice like her. There are a lot of Koreans who have frizzy curly hair, not super straight but not curly enough. More people have straight hair though

@@iloveicecream127 I think by normalize she means to not make fun of someone of they obviously have curly hair. ppl would probably ask her why didn't she straighten it or that it's looks better straight 🤔

I kind of love that she was educating him about curly hair. She really has a good understanding of good methods to use. Her hair has a slightly tighter curl than mine, and her method isn't that dissimilar from mine. He really did a great job listening to her too. I think, once her hair gets a little longer, she'd look great with a little bit of extra layering. Not a lot, but it will help give her hair some great shaping and it will look better on its own instead of relying on the pigtails.

there is a difference between curly hair and afro hair. she does not have afro textured hair at all LMAO.. afro hair is much more tight curled. Just because her hair gets frizzy does not mean she has afro hair LMAOO

He never mentioned the texture of her hair being afro-textured, just how it looks if it was combed out 🤷🏽‍♀️ A rose by any other name is a rose, that fro was cute. Now if I could get my steel wool hair to do that and not be tangled after I was done shaping it or give me a headache with the weight 😅life would be Gucci 🤭

채소님이나 다른 곱슬 유튜버분들 보면서 매직 중단을 결심했는데, 평소 재미있게 보는 기우쌤 채널에서 채소님 보니까 너무 반가워요! 매직 중단한 뒤로 미용실에 갈 때마다 매직하라는 권유도 많이 받고 제 곱슬머리로 매직펌을 하면 힘든데 재미있겠다는 반응을 보이셔서 속상할 때도 있고, 곱슬머리 케어 제품이 한국에 거의 없어서 곱슬머리 살리려는 의지가 많이 꺾였어요. 가장 힘든 점은 곱슬머리에 대한 이해도가 낮은 디자이너 분들은 그냥 생머리를 자르듯이 커트를 해서 관리가 더 어려울 때가 있고, 직구 제품은 향이 엄청 강해요! 향 때문에 한 달에 한 두번 바를까 말까해요ㅠㅠ 실례가 안 된다면 기우쌤께서 곱슬머리에 대해 더 공부해보겠다고 말씀하셨고, 기존에 헤어 제품을 판매하시고 계시니까 곱슬머리를 위한 한국 제품 만들어주셨으면 좋겠어요🥺 곱슬머리에 '악성'이라는 단어를 붙여서 엄청 부정적으로 보는 분들이 많은데 이번에 채소님과 함께 곱슬머리도 이렇게 하면 멋있다는 걸 보여주셔서 너무 감사해요!

저두 공감.. 매직하는동안 미용사들 표정 힘들어하니 난 눈치보며 죄지은것마냥 있고.. 머리말릴때도 힘들어하니 눈치보이고..게다가 "헐 머리색 이렇게 까만사람 처음 봤어요~"라고 말할때 그표정짜증나요. 염색하라고하고..그렇게 한번 머리하면 몇십나가고. 막상 몇달후부터는 머리묶고지내니까 코로나도 터진김에 갈때마다 눈치보이고 기분나쁜 미용실안가고 집에서 커트만하고 머리묶고사는데 머리카락도 건강해지고 좋네요. 그런데 40가까워지고 나이들수록 굵기도 보통머리카락 굵기되고 곱슬 많이 풀려서 곱슬 티가안나네요...

이 정도면 악성이 아니라 그냥 진한 곱슬이라 하는게 맞을듯 뭔가 악성은 자제 안될 정도로 아예 부스스한 머리를 상상했는데 저 곱슬은 ㄹㅇ 드라이나 파마한 것처럼 예쁜 곱슬

Ok, this makes me so happy. I wish American salons were this diverse in their learning. Only in a black salon can a white and black woman walk in and hair fresh hair. Most of our white salons don’t care to learn. The salon artist that knows all hair types gets paid the most. Js. I love Korea people. They seem to always be up for learning and trying to move past stereotypes. This is some racism in Korea still but a lot of the younger generation are combatting it. It’s really nice. I love this girls hair and how kind they are learning about how it works and how she maintains it. I also love the video with the American black girl they too. You guys are AWESOME!!!!

I so feel this. I've gotten a pretty good grip on it now, but it was really a journey. A lot of the time, it's the cut and the process that are more important than the products, and I used to think it was all about the products.

It’s really nice seeing how excited and curious he is about her hair. I wish I had her confidence. My curls bother me to the point I’ll just burst into tears. It just looks so dorky and awkward on me. I hate being seen as cute, so it really bothers me when people call me that, so I pull it straighter, but it stresses me out 24/7 I also just don’t have the time to style it with this much care. I have 5 minutes, max, to do my hair.

This is cool. Wasnt expecting such a tight curl pattern or an afro . I'm proud of her embracing her natural curl pattern. Tell her to get a satin bonnet or satin pillowcase to sleep on to preserve her curls so she only has to refresh her curls woth a light misting and a tiny bit of gel or condition the next day. I usually style mine 1x or 2x a week and then refresh daily as needed ( usually just the back of my head) . I have coily hair ( type 3c,4a and 4b with a small section of 4c)

I also have an aunt who has the same type of curls, and yes, she is asian. Cause she didn't know how to take care of it, her curls weren't healthy but it sure did look pretty. I loved the volume of it. And sadly, she straightened her hair cause it was more convenient. My dad also had curls even though he was Asians. His curls are bigger but looks very good. Although I don't have curls, I have wavy hair though I had straight hair as a kid. Hair is really interesting, like my aunt's parents didn't have any curls nor did my grandparents from my dad side.

곱슬인 1인입니다. 작년쯤 매직 안하고 1년 버티다 머리자르러 미용실 갔다가 미용사분이 무슨 자신감으로 매직 안하고 다니냐는 말 듣고 충격 받은적이 있었는데 갑자기 꿀밤때려지고 싶네요 ㅎㅎ 전체 매직 한번 하고나면 꾸준히 2~3개월 주기로 뿌매 해줘야 하는데 진짜 스트레스 입니다 ㅠㅠ 나름 곱슬에 만족하며 살고있었는데 지금은 다시 매직하고 다녀요 ㅎㅎ 영상 잘 보고 갑니다^^

so glad there's a curly hair video from kiu! my whole life i didn't know i was a curly korean and i always wanted straight sleek hair. but now im SO happy i have nice curls and bounce to my hair. i think it's fun and makes you unique ^^

As someone with a similar hair pattern I really have loved this video. And the questions were very predictable yet still respectful which I am not used to, as many people in Austria ask me the same questions all the time but in a very rude manner. They often just touch my hair and wipe their hands after, without asking my permission. However it’s nice to see how relatable hair can be without the difference of ethnicity, borders or country. Thank you for this video!!! 💜✨

This video makes me so happy ☺️. There is a whole science behind curly hair and it can be intimidating for anyone of any ethnicity. I have very dense "coily" (4c) hair that when wet looks like a short afro but straightened is past my armpits. I think it would be fun to let Kiu do my hair.

Chaeso's hair is very pretty and it suits her very well. Loved this video tutorial. 💕

I know it might be a rare hair type in Korea, but I hope more products will be available for curly hair people in Korea and Asia in general. As a foreigner watching Korean content, I only see curly hair as a joke or to copy black styles. I'm happy to actually see someone with naturally curly hair who isn't trying to make fun of it! And I'm glad overseas curly content is helping others who might not have that🥺 Anyone can have curly hair it's just more rare for some than it is for others. I hope everyone can respect each other and help each other with their individual needs.

It is not rare. Many have naturally curly hair. They just get a straight/magic perm done.

난 곱슬머리가 안 예쁘다 별로다 라는 생각은 해본적이 없습니다 다만 한국에서는 저 정도의 곱슬머리가 거의 없어서 만져보고 싶은 호기심, 신기함이 있습니다

I love seeing this. As a foreigner living in Korea I stand out. I’m bi-racial and with my curly hair I really stand out. In fact, I have been wearing my hair in buns for most of my time here because I thought it looked more professional (and it’s hot). I wanted to get my hair straightened but was afraid of going to a Korean salon and they would think I want a magic perm and not just a straightening with a blow dryer. It’s scary because I don’t think Korean hair stylist are informed enough in curly hair for me to put my trust into something I have been growing my entire life. I had the fun this past week of letting my hair down and my students were just like Kiu-wanting to touch it, pull a curly and let it go. One even asked if she could braid my hair. 😂 It’s great to see a curly haired Korean embracing her curls. I think all of us curly girls around the world struggle with that as it takes time and patience to manage and to learn how to do that. Curly girls are so lucky now there is a community to help them.

This was a really cool video to watch. I know some korean can have wavy hair but I've never seen one with curly hair like her before. I'm really glad that she found a way to properly take care of her curly hair and embrace it. She looks amazing!!!

ah her curls are so pretty. I used to have a lot of curls, similar pattern to hers, just "wrap around your thumb" rather than "wrap around your pinky". Growing up it was frizz city because my mother had stick-straight hair and we just didn't know, right up until I started leaving in a little of my keratin conditioner, and stopped brushing it when dry, and suddenly I had what looked like a spiral perm, which was very popular in the late 80s. Knowing how to handle my curls completely shifted my relationship with my hair until it changed too much due to illness. It's too short for much curl now, but for a long time I was wearing it braided to keep it from tangling.

I’m half black and half white and my hair is exactly like hers naturally but I’ve been getting straight perms in Japan now for 4 years but it’s so nice seeing her embrace her curls. I hope one day I have the confidence to do the same~

Why am i so happy right now. As a person with type 4 hair it honestly is really nice to see someone with curly hair come on the channel and educate people on how to take care of it.
