I also see the disparity of the label "dollar store" and the low cost stores versus the true "dollar store" where everything is exactly $1.00 or less per item. Non the less, I understand the exercise and I like these videos. The POINT of this is that buying survival items on a budget and in a hurry is to train ourselves to think and make the best decisions as to what to buy in order to survive a crisis. An example might be, you are stuck in bad weather (use trash bags and newspaper to make an insulated jacket or boots/shoes) Fixing shoes/boots and clothing with needle, thread, glue, and tape. Adapting weak gear and clothes. Turning a pair of $20 work boots into all day hikers or turning a $5 butcher knife into a survival knife and making a sheath out of an old inner tube.

super large black trash bags do fine. he mentioned buying some. i buy 55 gal leaf and lawn bags; they are stronger and I've never had one tear during practice in the woods. the trick is NOT to poke holes in the bags for tie down cords. instead, use small pebbles and wrap cord around the trash bag tarp containing the pebble. use smooth pebbles and not sharp rocks.

Also I would probably switch a few things like I would put the lighter and maybe one more thing and get a three pack of lighters. As long as the flashlight doesn't break it's actually pretty easy to scavenge supplies to make a power source for it. Also I would buy the tuna in bulk so it would cost less I would buy more tuna that canned meet because the tuna is very helpful not just for eating but other things used to survive. I would also buy some balloons like the 25 for one dollar bag because they are great for storage and even making weapons . I would also buy a pack of wooden skewers as ammo for the mini bow I would make with a balloon.

You can also use cheap peanut butter as a fuel if you have nothing else to burn. Smear a stick with a few globs of peanut butter and hold a match to it from the bottom. The peanut butter is full of oil and sugar, both of which will catch fire easily and burn relatively slowly. This will work even if you use a wet stick. It would be better to use a lighter than a match though, as your match might burn out before the peanut butter ignites ( though this is more likely if you use cardboard matches from a little match book ).

The free newspaper tip is a great one, stuff your boots with it, its the most effective way to dry your boots/shoes as too much direct heat may dry and crack the leather. I'm not sure about putting motor oil directly on your skin but I suppose if you're desperate (say stuck near a swamp or above the Arctic circle in summer ) it would be OK for a couple of days, I've seen mosquito's really mess people and animals up in the Yukon/Northern B.C., so if it gets you through a tough time, why not?

And no way to boil water
Mr Smith is awesome, please tell him the world wants.. needs him to get his own channel to share the knowledge he has.
You should do a video on how to make a "hobo fishing rod" because I live very close to large streams and lakes and it would be very useful to know how to make one
Cool video. Looks like you guys had fun making it. Hope to see Mr. Smith more! Does he have his own channel?
You should do a video on all the survival gear you can get from Harbor Freight for free. Tarps, rope, scissors, lights all for free.
Excellent demo! Two thumbs up! But music while you guys where talking was kind loud lol
this is like when my family goes to the store for groceries

motor oil and bleach, the essentials :p
The free newspaper tip is a great one, stuff your boots with it, its the most effective way to dry your boots/shoes as too much direct heat may dry and crack the leather. I'm not sure about putting motor oil directly on your skin but I suppose if you're desperate (say stuck near a swamp or above the Arctic circle in summer ) it would be OK for a couple of days, I've seen mosquito's really mess people and animals up in the Yukon/Northern B.C., so if it gets you through a tough time, why not?

Would be a good to see you guys use this kind of stuff for a day or two
KGB you should make an episode when you survive with the supply's you have right now :)
Alex what is your relation to Mr. Smith how do you know him and such and great video as always i really enjoyed the last 2
I like Smith
Hey, you got trash bags, you can use them with the tape to make a sleeping bag !
Mr. Smith is cool AF
Thats my grocery shopping list
Awesome
you can reuse the pork n beans can as a stove and a tuna can as a good top for the can stove
Very useful
You can buy a generic Swiss Army knife at dollar/99 cent stores too.
Good stuff guys, and everyone should have a survival bin in there home in case of emergency, maybe you guys should grab a plastic bin from the "Dollar Store", and fill it too the brim with stuff that people should keep in case of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, ice/storm storms that cana take out power for upwards of weeks, etc..
