Have extra food, medicine, toilet paper, flashlight, radio, check! Safety gear? Check! Take it with you? NOT CHECK. Even in a basement, though, if an EF5 comes along it can core a basement. If it is possible and you're in a tornado-prone area, have a fully underground storm shelter!
