How to sum attribute values (area or length) in QGIS

Ғылым және технология

We show how to sum (add) attribute values for vector layers in QGIS. In this case, we show for polygon and line layers - their area or length, accordingly. We use simple, free software for this video. This trick can be used to do even much more complex calculations.

i tried to follow your tip for merge feature attributes, but when i open attribute table it doesn't add the total but it makes all the values for area the as the total value for area. i am using qgis 3.18

Try not. Either do, or do not. There is no "try". --- If it makes all the values the same (total area), then you haven't merged them correctly. That means there are still multiple features. Anyway, you can copy the total area value and undo the changes, as I did in the tutorial.
