Omg thank you sooooo much!!!! I finally broke down & bought another vacuum since mine didn't detach from the base to only find out that the attachment on the new one I thought would work , wasn't the right shape (crevice tool instead of a straight up hose). Could've used my mattress pump years ago!!!!

What are you using to seal the bag? Is it a pumper?

Yes. A cheap air mattress pump but reversed. :-)

But what if you don’t have one of those?? Then how do you take the air out?

They're a vacuum bag so you have to use some type of vacuum. People use a vacuum cleaner when they're in a house, for example. Most caravaners don't carry vacuum cleaners but might carry an air mattress pump. They are small and only about $20AUD.

@Jeanne Myers - Hi there! You can use large ziploc bags for items like jeans, shirts, undergarments, socks and even shoes. What you do is put the item inside the ziploc bag and then close it but not all the way. You leave a tiny little bit open and press on the bag and voila! When I travel I use ziploc bags just so that my clothes don’t get wet or stink especially when I travel during cold weather.

@@sarahy4813 Thanks Sarah. Good point. We also use zip lock bags for food, especially fish. Same deal, squeeze all the air out then zip the bag up. I really hate the traste of freezer burn on fish and this method keeps the freezer burn away for an extra month or two.

@@colineast65 not so much for clothes, buy when I ziploc food, I squeeze as much air as possible out, zip it almost shut, insert a straw and suck the air out, zip that last 1/2 inch and VOILA! I never have freezer burned food
