How to successfully strip cichlid eggs and put in egg tumbler.

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Hey guys just to spare the drone videos i have while on lockdown i said ide put this up to show you step by step on removing eggs from cichlids female,
The reason why ive done this is because they lose half the eggs due to either swallowing or spitting out. The one thing i dont like is them not eating for 24 days while they hold the eggs then the fry of babies, Also if they let the babies out they will be eaten by the other fish, All cichlid breeders do this to save the babies as in the wild they can let out off mouth and eat then they can take back into mouth so that is why this is done no harm done to fish during this recording,

That was really cool Fran, I didn’t know they would hold them in their mouths like that to keep other fish from eating them...totally cool video. Nice tank and being able to watch the babies hatch would be super cool, thanks for sharing

I've never seen it like this Fran, they're mouthbrooders. The fish carry the eggs in their mouths and hatch the small fish there. Then the little fish swim out of the mother's mouth after hatching and swim back in again. The fish mother always carries the little ones around in her mouth.

  • @franduncandroneproductions

Hi my friend I've no other tank to put her into. I had 3 off them that were all carrying eggs and the males wouldn't leave them alone stressing them out one off the 3 spit out all her eggs and they were eaten. So I looked on youtube and when you have so many fish in tank the baby fry won't survive so that's why these egg tumblers were made as soon as I get the new tank I will put female's carrying into it so they won't be chased around.
