How to Succeed as a 3D Pilot

Ойын-сауық

Learning how to succeed in 3D flying as a pilot can be challenging. It requires changing how you approach flying and how you think of what an airplane should be capable of. Anyone can learn this skill with enough practice and patience, and maybe a helpful tutorial / clinic that goes over what you'll need to know to grow your skills. Here's a variety of moves we've performed that you can learn along with us!

    We don't have to review aircraft, we just enjoy doing it - and there's only so many 3D tutorials one can make. Though there's other subjects that can be covered too.

    Great video John, lots of useful information even if you are like me and only looking for basic skills. I spent 20 years away from the hobby and now I am too old and cranky to try and learn the advanced stuff, but I enjoy watching those that are doing it.

    Brilliant intro to 3D. Now you've whet everyone's appetite, i think it would be good if you followed up with videos concentrating on just a couple or three of the manouvres at a time, expanding on the problems, settings, solutions and common mustakes. This video was a good gallop through a lot of manouvres. Don't get me wrong, it was really good and late in coming. There is plenty of room for instructional videos for our hobby. Whether 3D or other aspects. Many thanks.

    This is a good video, more of this would be nice. Something I’m realizing is the recovery is almost more important than the trick. I did snap rolls on my UMX TTE and it’s really predictable and slow, on my Umx air tractor it’s so fast I have to click on safe to recover

    Great video, love all the explanations about the difficulties of each maneuvers. It’s a great help to have flying buddies or club members that POSITIVELY push you out of your comfort zone, and blame you for doing circles. I know that for some, this could be stressful, and not all clubs have 3D pilots. 8:04 You say right rudder but it’s left rudder you are doing ?

    @@TwoBrosRC This is from the transcipt. AI am referring you read up a lot on this topic. Though you dont expressly say it. “So I'm a huge fan of books. I mean, that's a stupid phrase. Who's not a fan of books? Okay, let me rephrase. I'm a fan of Dune. I love the Frank Herbert novels, even the Brian Herbert novels that some people trash because they're like, it's new Dune. It's not as good as the original. It's like, whatever. Brian Herbert is a literary masterpiece. Like everything he is, let me rephrase, Frank Herbert. I said Brian. Brian's work is good too, but Frank's work is amazing. And the litany against fear that the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood talks about where it's like, I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. That is very true. If you allow your fear to control you, you cannot do anything. You're paralyzed. And that's what happens in every horror movie. When somebody's scared, they just shut down, and then the monster gets them, right? And the only way to get through your fear and to improve yourself is both a pilot and in some ways, cases as a person, in my case especially, I became a much better person when I stopped letting anxiety[…]” From Skybound RC: Jon from Two Brothers RC - Highs and lows of KZread and pushing the boundaries of rc models, Jun 24, 2024 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/skybound-rc/id1693323253?i=1000660094815 This material may be protected by copyright.

    how tight is the gimbal on the throttle side? i started making my throttle crunchy or tight in order to have good rudder authority. is this a good technique overall? thanks

  • @TwoBrosRC

    @TwoBrosRC

    It's at default tension. We never saw a reason to adjust it. Technique is only as good as your ability to put it into practice. If it works for you, it's a good technique!

    At 8:02 you say to knife edge spin with left aileron and full right rudder. However on the stick cam you’re holding left rudder. Is that a typo or am I missing something?

    Ohhh... Excelente trabajo con el tutorial 🎉. Ojalá y hace un año me hubiera encontrado con este tutorial, la cantidad de detalles que explicas lo hacen único en internet. Ahora debo admitir que producto a la traducción de los subtítulos me perdí en la manera correcta de aplicar el acelerador en el rolling Harrier. Así que la pregunta es obligatoria. Cuándo es el momento adecuado para activar el acelerador mientras realizo el rolling Harrier?🤔 Llevo días y días practicando en el simulador pero se me resiste y se que aún no domino bien el acelerador😢. También quería preguntarte sobre como se logra hacer los giros en el rolling Harrier o sea realizarlo en círculos en ves de una línea recta. Saludos desde Cuba 🇨🇺 Sigue con estos excelentes videos. Gran trabajo 👌, felicidades
