How To Sublimate On Wood Using Polycrylic | No Residue, Vibrant Results EVERY Time!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In today's video, I show you how to sublimate on wood using polycrylic! This method will leave you with no residue and vibrant results every time. These particular rounds can actually be sublimated without polycrylic, but if you add this you will get vibrant results, which is the goal with sublimation! This is a game changer for sure.
What you need:
*12 inch Birch Wood rounds: amzn.to/37jVK7C
*Minwax Polycrylic: www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-Polyc...
*Sandpaper: amzn.to/3fz5OhG
Steps: Apply polycrylic with foam brush, allow to dry for many hours, rub over wood with sandpaper, sublimate at 385 degrees for 65 seconds, remove paper, take a wet sponge rub over wood until any paper is gone, apply polycrylic over final design & dry.

Thank you ! Was looking to find the best option for my first live edge wood rounds I want to make family ornaments. This helped greatly 🧡
Amazing tips and tricks as always! Thanks 😊
I tried it today with infusible ink and my Cricut heat press and it turned out good just like your first one. Thank you for your video. I now can use my 4x4 plain wood into Xmas ornaments. Wooohooo 🥳
I just bought some of the craft circles. This video is very helpful😊. I put the poly coating on and waited over night.
Loved it! Thanks for sharing!!
I was curious about this thin wood warping. Glad you mentioned that.

Great video! Thank you!
LOVE THIS! ❤️
Hey Sallie, I'm sure you know this by now, but for anyone not aware, sublimation inks do not permanently bind to organic fibers like cotton or wood. There are tricks you can use, of course, but they aren't reliable enough to sell. With clothing you have to use synthetic material like polyester or rayon, so your idea of you sublimating to wood over a polycrylic coating is absolutely brilliant.
Love it thank you for sharing ✨✨💕
They look so good with the polycyclic!!! Awesome video!!!

I love this. I make round wood door signs as well as my sublimation and I think these would look amazing in the center of my 18 inch round wood signs as a center piece!
Great video.thank you

Hi Sallie! I have been doing layering for over a year now and wanted to add a little something extra so I just bought an Epson EcoTank to turn into a sublimation printer. I'm so excited to hopefully intertwine the 2 together.

Me too! Got such a great deal I could no longer say it's too expensive lol These Eco Tanks are awesome e machines. Just make sure to you run a few prints each week or the head dries up. Mission to get it clean again.
I love this thanks for sharing!@
I saw where someone commented the wood rounds don’t look smooth. Maybe try sanding with a higher grit and see if that helps. We love 600 grit on our wood products. It makes them REALLY smooth! I can’t wait to try sublimation!
Fantastic experiment, thank you for putting it online for others
Love these. Thanks for sharing. Did you create your images?
Wow! Thanks for sharing, definitely will be trying this! May I ask why the wood had to be sanded?
Thanks for sharing your process! Very beautiful work! What brand heat press is that?
Hey there! love your videos. How do you make or design your prints? I have an Epson 2720. I use the poster print for larger prints but can't get it exactly 12 inches around or larger.
Yes one coats before use the heat press after is the second .? Thank beautiful job
Thank you for sharing your great ideas. Could you tell me what the rule of thumb is for sizing the image, exsample a small shirt vs a large shirt?
What an awesome craft idea! Now I wish I could afford a sublimation printer and a heat press...lol. Some day!😉

Love your videos Can! Can you please tell me what type of paper n printer do you use to make prints for 18 inch rounds? Thank you
You are amazing! This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I'm thinking you are probably a teacher...and if not, you should be!!! You are very thorough in your explanation. I can't wait to try this. I do have one question: What do you put on the back to hang them up?
@SimplySallie
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! I am not a teacher but I do appreciate the compliment! So I haven't had to hang these yet, but if I did I would probably use some type of double sided hanging tape since they are so lightweight and thin. You may could use sawtooth hangers but the screws might be too long.
Sallie, I have never clicked so fast 😆

I love your projects and your sweet spirit! Do you have a large sublimation printer? Your printouts look the perfect size!
Great tutorial thanks where did you get your sublimation paper?
Watch this video . So rewarding right!
I’m sorry if I didn’t see it in the comments, but did you use a background you purchased for the pumpkin sign? I’m newer to sublimation and have seen background bundles for sale and wondered if maybe this was something like that? I love it!
Wow thank you for this. What’s your pressure? Medium to hard or light to medium?
Nice project. What brand and style is your heat press? Thanks.🦋
I was wondering if you could put a gloss sealer on the fade one - that should make the color pop - should be sealed anyway if your gonna have it outside - nice tutorials tyvm
Sallie-do you know if you can do sublimation on a painted wood circle?
Hi, so just watching this video and love it, but Im more interested in HOW you printed your designs on the paper.
great tutorial! Can I ask what printer/ink/paper you're using? Thanks!
Hi I’m new to your channel. May I ask how do you create your artwork for your projects? Thank you
Hello and thank you for testing. What printer did you use?
Can you do the same technique on a wood round that is painted white and has polycrylic on top?
Please do share your color profile. They are amazing colors. And are you printing from silhouette?
These are fabulous xx I am wondering what printer you used for the larger prints?
Can you apply this to wood that is already painted or does it have to be applied directly to the wood?
I tried this like I would my tee shirts by having to slip the image. It ghosted and a line down the middle. Is there any way to use a 8.5 x ? To split and put together to work? Awesome video I just don’t have a wide printer. Anyone help?
What types of files do you need to use for sublimation?
What would you use to hang these? Thank you.
I love this video! Do you have a video showing what brand of heat press/printers you use? I've heard horror stories and don't want to spend a lot of money on something that won't work 😬

Hi! Yes I do, it is a few months back on how to sublimate a shirt. I go over all the details there
Where did you get the orange plaid design and what font did you use?
think it would work if you painted or stained the wood first then put on your design?
What polycrylic did you use? These look great. i notice that there is clear matte, clear gloss, etc. Thanks
Beautiful!!! What sublimation printer did you use on this, please?
Great tutorial. Where do you find your designs?
Can you paint the wood white first or a different color and then put poly on it then sub the picture?
Hello would the poly acrylic method work on wooden jewelry box i would like to sublimate on a jewelry box
Do you think you can add a white pass coat, sublimate and then polycrilic on top? Would it work?
What was in the white tub that you used with the green sponge?
Pictures would be really cool!
@SimplySallie

I'm going to try this too!
Great video! =) Is it possible to paint the wood then polycrilic, then sublimate?
I have the spray polyacrylic. You think three coats of that will work?
I'm here Sallie! Lol

Thank you!! 😁
Did you lint roll the wood circles after you sanded them?
Maybe it would come out good using sublicoat clear instead of polycrylic
Fantastic results!! So creative- love it!! What do you use to create your transfer designs? A laser printer?
@amyalbernaz8687
Жыл бұрын
You have to have a sublimination printer with sublimination ink to print images or you can buy them alteady made ready to transfer…you need heat to transfer the image to a blank
Hi Sally... so now that this video is a year old do you still have this polycrylic round? I would like to see how it has held up... my expericence is that the sublimation tends to bleed. It starts about 15 days after the press and continues to bleed... like there is a color halo. I would like to see if you are having the same experience
can you use color paint also to paint the wood before sublimation
