    Yeah same thing here. We are planning to go back to UK after 5 years living in Edmonton, Canada. I am planning to bring my 3 boys and hopefully get into grammar schools to prep them to UK Universities. My kid got accepted to Old Scona Academy for Gr.10 and somehow miss the UK education system. Anyway all the best on your Law undergraduate education.

    Oh amazing!!! Take a look at the NCA website for info on the whole process. You can also keep in mind that doing a masters in Canada after you’ve done your LLB in the UK can decrease the number of exams you have to write. I’m not too familiar on that side of things but if you have any questions on your search or life in the UK I’m happy to help! Feel free to message me on Instagram (@anastacia.jido) Good luck!! 🫶

    Hi! Thank you so much for this video, it’s been so helpful. I was wondering in your first year accommodations, did they pair you to live with students your age and/or in your accelerated Llb program?

    Hey, so glad this was helpful for you! I think depending on where you live you can write in preferences of age range or area of study but I suppose there's no guarantees. I lived with people a bit younger than me my first year and then people more my age my second year. You could always look on Facebook groups for finding places to live rather than in University based accommodation. Hope that helps!

    Why did you not pick city university of London over Leeds? I am planning to apply to both and would like to hear your input. especially since Leeds tuition is almost 10K more than city

    Lots of reasons really, but a big one was that I think I knew I’d have a better quality of life in Leeds where I’d be able to live and pay rent, go out with friends, etc more comfortably as the cost of living in Leeds is more manageable compared to London

    I didn’t finish high school with too high of a gpa however I am currently in undergrad pursuing a biology degree, and I soon hope to attend law school in the UK after I graduate , I would like to go for environmental law. So my question is: Even if I graduate undergrad with a high gpa, will my high school gpa determine the chances of how likely I am to get accepted into a UK Law school? - also this video was really informative and helpful, thank you! ❤

    Hey! Glad this video was helpful for you 😊 I found in my application process the grades they had me write out (subject and overall grade) were my high school grades rathe than from my undergraduate degree. However in my personal statement I relied heavily on pulling from the experiences I had in my degree and any work/volunteer experience I had. I generally feel like they would want people who can prove they’re well rounded and eager to learn. There’s lots of transferable skills in any job that can apply to law. I’d recommend taking a look at the schools you’re interested in and their entry requirements. Then converting your high school grades into equivalent grades in the UK (A levels) will give you a better idea of where you can apply. I think at the end of it, it’s all dependant on what university you want to go to and if you have a strong personal statement and recommendation letter (in my opinion at least). Hope this helps!! If you have any other questions just let me know! 🫶

    I did an undergraduate degree at MRU and then applied for an accelerated LLB in the UK for law school. It really depends on what you're looking to do and where you want to go. I would maybe do some research on where you want to apply and work backwards to see what you need as a pre requisite. Hope that helps :)

    How much money do you recommend someone save aside from basic student loans (no lines of credit included just regular student loans) for each year

  • @anastaciajido

    @anastaciajido

    Жыл бұрын

    It really depends on what city you’re living in. There’s a few things to take into consideration. I’d look at whether you’re planning on staying in student accommodation (most of the time bills are included) and if not, account for monthly bills. Also take into account phone plan, subscriptions, trains/transportation, eating out, etc. it truly varies per person! I’d also look at whether your student loans cover tuition and rent or just tuition. Mine was just tuition so I had to account for rent, bills, spending money etc. I had some savings from working and then I also have a line of credit to pull from when needed. Hopefully that helps a bit! :) x

    I think I just had a bank statement to prove I had the funds but I don’t remember them actually taking it into consideration really. It was years ago so I can’t fully remember but I’d recommend looking up what proof they accept and opting for that :)

  • @anastaciajido

    @anastaciajido

    Жыл бұрын

    I’m by no means a professional so definitely do your own research, but with experience like that I would consider looking at completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) as your entry way into Law in the UK and then depending on whether you want to be a solicitor or barrister you can then do the SQE or BPC. I know those are all offered by the University of Law which is where I’m currently studying and it’s been great. As for cons, the visa process is expensive and the course fees are quite high. It’s really all dependant on your personal position. Hopefully this helps a bit, if you have any other questions let me know and good luck!! :)

    For the student loans - Can you say what basis you appealed on? Did they not give the full amount a student would receive for law school in Canada? In your appeal - what did you say (if you don’t mind sharing). My son needs to apply this week or next when the applications open and I’m worried about how much he will get for law school in Essex

  • @anastaciajido

    @anastaciajido

    Hiya, I appealed on the basis that the amount they initially allocated me was not the same as what I had applied for. I can't remember the specifics as it was years ago now, but remember the process being really straight forward. After submitting, I received notice that they allocated me more funds (but still not as much as I had applied for, but I don't think you'd ever get the full amount anyways). When applying, you are asking for a specific amount from your specific university. I requested the tuition amount from the university of leeds, converted to CAD, and applied with that amount, plus living, etc but was well aware when applying that I wouldn't be allocated the full amount. The appeal process definitely upped the overall amount which was really helpful as it increased enough to cover my full tuition but I paid for my living expenses, books, etc on my own. Hope that helps! :)

    @@anastaciajido Ty for the info! It is different in Nova Scotia. You don’t apply for a certain amount. They allocate what they feel is accurate based on parents or your income. There is a cap to what the will give. We suspect we will need to pay about $7k CAD towards tuition plus living expenses

    Ultimately I just knew I wanted to move to the UK and stay here! I figured going back to school and doing law which was always something I was interested in seemed like a good way to get my foot in the door of making the move. Most (if not all) of my friends who were Canadian and did their LLB went back to Canada after we graduated so it really just depends. Ultimately it’s a great experience to live on your own, travel, make friends etc! Hope that helps x

    Hey! There’s a section all about loans in this video, but to sum up I applied for loans from the Canadian government by requesting the amount of my tuition in pounds converted to Canadian dollars. You then just go through the application process and wait to hear back. Initially I had appealed asking for more than they offered. For me I had two payment instalments, one in the fall and one in the new year (usually feb) and it gets deposited into your bank account. For me I had to transfer the funds from my Canadian account to UK bank account. As for what kinds of loans you really have to research what’s available to you. Take a look at your uni website to see if there are any international bursary’s that are available to you. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions lemme know x
