Love the Double Bass HQ! I'm a recent recruit of the Double Bass ranks and so this stuff is golden. Thanks for taking the time to put it together 😀

Tapping helped my stroke recovery. The remaining helps too. Thanks.

Ring Warner was a bass player from the Dallas Symphony who later was principal of the Phoenix. I was a student of his in AZ.

Nice call on the tapping tip! I've found it useful for working on accuracy when meeting the strings as well as applying consistent pressure to form each note. Thank you!

Max’s magic is good but falls into the “first finger superiority” complex. It reinforces the structure of the hand where the first finger is the anchor and the pinky is a little flipper coming on and off, in a way keeping it weak. I always try and incorporate a variation of this exercise where the pinky is anchored and the middle and first finger alternate, usually on neighboring strings with a fifth and tritone. So kinda like mixing it with the double stops which are also great. Not sonically appealing haha but focuses on the pinky specifically. I still struggle with the pinky, even on guitar to not just upright

I was just thinking about this, too! I suppose if you reversed the order of the drill, that would help offset the bias?

Great vid as always. Hopefully Max's magic works for my left hand. Really struggling to get a solid fundamental tone with my pinky on the E string. I've been playing for about a month; I hope it improves with time.

Thanks! I think it takes a bit of time, but it should improve.
