How To Strengthen Nails with Fiber Gel

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi guys
Welcome to the Kirsty Meakin SHOW! Today we’re doing 2for1 soak off and builder gel application.
I’m going to start with the mandrel bit and a medium sanding band to abrasive the topcoat to let the acetone soak into the product and lift it off. I’m going to use hairdressing foils and cotton wool soaked with acetone, pop the wool on the nail, wrap it in foil to trap the heat, and stop the acetone from evaporating and leave it for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes I’ll take the soaks off and lightly flake off the gel, I had to pop them back in the foils for another 5 minutes before I could finish off the removal with a 240 grit file.
I’m going to prep my cuticle area with my e-file. I’m going to a thin layer of the fiber gel first and then build it up to strengthen the nail. I’m going to wipe away the sticky layer and file the nails into shape. You can go ahead and add a design onto these or just Top Coat them but I’m leaving that for later.
I hope you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like and subscribe.

    Hi lovelies! Love this video! It’s so refreshing to see you doing some nail pampering for yourself Kirsty especially on shorter natural nails. Thankyou! Please could I ask you what is the difference between fibre gel and other types of builder gels (for example something like Naio’s BIAB - sorry to use that as an example on here but as a beginner it’s my only basis for comparison at present) This sounds like a great product and is a beautiful colour too - definitely something I could do with for my own nails as they have always been rubbish! They’re so thin and weak it’s pathetic! Much love to all and keep up the fab content and great questions (thanks Adam)!

    Really great tutorial, thank you for showing us how to remove and apply. Question though - is fiber gel the same as poly gel and if different, can they be removed/applied similarly? Every time I've tried removing my poly gel with an efile, soaking, or the hand file nothing happens and its exceptionally long, painful, and an awful experience. I'm hoping fiber gel is different and that it'll be helpful for growing my natural nails under gel

    What’s the difference between fiber gel and builder gel? I am not a professional and bought Naio products when you were affiliated with them, but I’m allergic to certain products of theirs (the top coats and certain gel polish colors, mostly the blues/greens) so I had to get rid of most of them. I still use their builder in a bottle but would love to switch to nailchemy since that’s what you’re using now! How do the nailchemy and Naio products compare?

    Just a hint for removal...using a large plastic bag (I prefer zip lock) place a piece of paper toweling that easily fits inside the bag with room to spare. Add enough acetone to cover your nails and a tablespoon of olive oil*. After filing the shine off, place your hand in the bag and place the bag in a bowl of very warm water. Soak for about 5 minutes before you begin to rub your nails on the paper toweling. The warmth and the abrasion will remove the gel or dip powder quickly. *The oil will leave an oily finish on your nails. Don't use it if you intend to use polish on your nails directly after removal.

    Love the result of the new nails. So classy. But one question: Isn't it more healthier for the skin and nail bed to file the products down instead of using acetone to make it melting? I used this technique once and my skin was dry like hell. Needed almost a month to take care of my nails and hands with creme and things like that.

    I think they're still debating that. I don't know, I quit messing around with any kind of nail tips the last time I had to soak off my acrylics, it left my fingers sensitive for weeks. I can't imagine all the poking and prodding and scraping is good for your nails, but they claim the efile is bad for you. Who knows.

  • @AaronW-ww4ds

    @AaronW-ww4ds

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's not healthier also filing completely down to the natural nail isn't recommended due to the fact you can severely damage the natural nail plate what is recommended is to file the bulk of the gel or acrylic then leave a thin layer of the product on then soak that off which means your hands are not in acetone for like half an hour

    I do my own nails at home too. I am not a professional. We don’t have many sanitary options where I live in the rural US. I only used Naio products (because I watch Kirsty’s videos to learn) but am allergic to a lot of their products for some unknown reason. I just made an account on nailchemy.co.uk and they didn’t ask me for any license info. I’m going to buy the nailchemy products now.

    @@laurenmurphy1992 you may have developed an allergy to either HEMA or acrylates which are 2 known issues with nail products. There are companies out there who have HEMA free products including poly gel and polishes. Diamonds and Gloss Australia is one of them. As someone who developed dermatitis from using Tomicca and Makartt, I have tried Diamonds and Gloss gel polish with no irritation at all. Give them a try and see how you go. They sell a sample box of base gel, 2x colours, shiny top coat and matte top coat to see if you like them.

    I have always loved watching your work Kirsty, but unlike Naio, the Nailchemy is PRO only, so no good for those of us who are not qualified. Are you just using PRO only products now?
