This is how I straighten my wood arrow shafts. Very easy to do and it works wonders!

Hi, thx for good tip! Could I have a question about your bows? Which one do you like more, Slick Stick, or Blackfoot? Thanks for the answer!

I don't have the Slick Stick anymore. I sold it a few years ago. It was too short for my taste (58"), I developed a passion for real longbows (66" and up). Also, I shoot IFAA and WA tournaments, the Slick Stick is not legal in the Longbow category in those associations. The Blackfoot is a nice little shooter for little money, a good bow to enter the world of longbows :)

Do the arrows bend again the more you shoot them?

Over time, wood arrows naturally will get banged up. But they stay straight well enough. I shoot a lot (3-4 times a week) and use my wood arrows until they break.

And the effect is persistent?

Yes, absolutely! By compressing the wood fibres on the weaker spots, the shaft stays straight.

Is there any alternatives to a beer bottle?

Anything that has a round shape similar to a bottle and a flat, non-scratchy surface will do! You can take almost any other round bottle, doesn't have to be a beer bottle... it's just what I had lying around ;)

Do you do this with green or dry wood?
@TheDayne

I think you can clearly see that those shafts are dry wood. I never worked with green wood. All my shafts (and the shafts of every archer I ever met) are dry wood.

🔵 The camera angle was not parallel to the table and so we are unable to see the orientation of the arrows-curve in relation to the table-top, You didn't make it clear at ALL whether you are to rub the bottle on the 'Inside' or the 'Outside' of the curve!.... Without this information we are lost!

You rub in on the outside. You roll the shaft and look if any light comes trough between the table and the shaft, then you stop at the point where the monst light comes through and rub the bottle gently up and down the shaft a few times. Rinse and repeat until you are satisfied with the straightness. Hope that made it clearer!
